Recap / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) S03E10 "Turtles at the Earth's Core"

Go To

Beneath the surface of New York City, a discovery is made: a lost world full of dinosaurs, alive and well in the modern era!

Tropes:

  • Artistic License – Geology: The Turtles meet dinosaurs from "beneath the Earth's core". Since the core is, by definition, at the center of the spherical Earth and thus at the point where the planet's gravity pulls to, there's no such thing as beneath the core — pass the core and you'll simply start digging up in the mantle on the other side.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Raphael points out that the turtles are the one who have to do something about the rampaging dinosaurs because "if we didn't, it wouldn't be much of an episode."
  • Herbivores Are Friendly: While the diplodocus' sheer size makes it a menace to the compact streets of New York, it's otherwise portrayed as harmless and affectionate.
  • Lost World: It's revealed that there are dinosaurs alive and well today in an insulated world beneath the Earth's crust.
  • Oblivious to His Own Description: Bebop and Rocksteady thinks that using a t-rex for their plans would be pointless because they are all brawn and no brain.
The Shredder: I won't say it. It's too easy.
