Shredder and Baxter recover the second fragment of the Eye of Sarnoth, using it to power a malevolent computer named Omnis that can control any machinery it can at will. Shredder plans to use Omnis to not only open a portal back to Dimension X and return the Foot Soldiers to Earth, but to destroy the Turtles as well.
Tropes
- Animating Artifact: The Eye of Sarnoth fragment makes O.M.N.S.S. self-aware when he plugs the crystal into it.
- Chekhov's Gun: The alien tracker ends up being incompatible with Turtle Van's equipment, which results in it being short circuited. This ends up saving the Turtle's lives later on when Omnss takes control of the van and attempts to force it to crash; Donatello links the tracker with the van again to fry the van's systems.
- Early-Installment Weirdness: Splinter is seen eating pizza alongside the Turtles and April at the end of the episode. This was before later episodes as early as later season two would go on to establish that he couldn't stand pizza.
- Mathematician's Answer: In order to reach Shredder and O.M.N.S.S. the Turtles and April have to scale the exterior of a skyscraper. When April sees how high up they are (complete with Vertigo Effect) and baulks at this, their response is less than helpful.April: You're kidding! It's seventy stories straight down!Raph: We're not going down - we're going up!Mikey: [overhearing approaching machines.] And sooner than we thought!
- Mundane Solution: Omnss is defeated when April pulls the computer's plug.
- Technopath: O.M.N.S.S. is able to use its processing power to take control of any machine via the satellite dish it's plugged in to. It also allows him to survey everyone and everything in the city, detecting the turtles after it becomes self-aware.
