- Angst: Played for laughs. Liam's first scene of the episode is him moping because Hayden's moved away.
- Call-Back: The baseball bat Stiles gave Mason last episode reappears.

- Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Downplayed. Liam is able to hold his own in the fight against Halwyn despite being a Beta Werewolf while Halwyn is a Hellhound. Both are badly injured after the fight.
- Averted when Mason attempts to take out Halwyn by hitting him with the baseball bat. Doesn't work.
- Played straight when Monroe, an inexperienced hunter, is able to kill a hellhound. Slightly downplayed as Halwyn was still injured and exhausted from his earlier fight with Liam.

- Put on a Bus: Hayden has moved away off-screen since the last episode.
