"You lost my car?! My car lost a race?!"
Cyborg

Cyborg puts together his prized possession; the T-Car. But his eagerness to use it gets him to take it to a crime scene, where it gets stolen by a couple of thugs who lose it to Gizmo.

Tropes:

  • All for Nothing: Cyborg and Raven finally tracks down his stolen car a second time, but it ends up destroyed after defeating the thief Gizmo and Overload. Luckily, they can always fix it back up, better than ever.
  • Anachronic Order: For whatever reason, this episode was originally aired as the Season 1 Finale even though clearly "The Apprentice Part 1 and 2" were the actual finale.
  • Are We There Yet?: "Are we there yet?..." "NO!!"
  • Berserk Button: Because Cyborg worked so hard on the T-Car, he doesn't take Raven's notion that it's simply "just a car" very well.
  • Big "NO!": Cyborg lets out a pretty long "NOOOOOOO!!!..." in slow-mo (around five seconds) moments before seeing his beloved T-Car crashing into a prison truck.
  • Drunk on Milk: "Fourteen milkshakes. Not a good sign..."
  • Chronically Crashed Car: The first of many crashes.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: This is the only episode where Overload speaks. All other episodes portray him as a silent being akin to Cinderblock.
  • Ejection Seat: Cyborg's new car has one in it's driver's seats, which Gizmo uses to bail shortly before the car crashes into a prison transport. Raven however use her powers to control the ejection seat's parachutes to restrain Gizmo, mid-gloating.
  • Fire Hose Cannon: After the Titans realize Overload's weakness to be water, they quickly drenches Overload, with Raven using her telekinesis to rip open pipes, Starfire triggering the sprinklers, Beast Boy swallowing the contents of a water cooler and turning into an elephant to empty it, and Robin... well, being Robin, grabs the store's emergency water hose instead.
  • Graceful Loser: Oddly enough, the two punks combine this trope with Unsportsmanlike Gloating; they're arrested, but they aren't all that bummed because they get to troll Gizmo as a result.
  • No Sympathy: Subverted. At first Raven dismisses Cyborg's distress at his "baby" being stolen, but later on she comforts him when understanding how hard he worked on it.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: After understanding why Cyborg is obsessed with getting his car back, Raven comforts him and says that when she uses her powers, what she creates becomes a part of her. It's like how for Cyborg, creating the car was like creating a part of him. In short, "his baby".
  • Oil Slick: The T-Car is discovered to have this function.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Cyborg's T-Car starts off with a mostly blue colour scheme. The moment it's possessed by an escaped Overload, it turns red and black.
  • Sadistic Choice: Overload thinks that making Cyborg have to choose between apprehending him and destroying the car is this; Cyborg's reply is to coldly mutter "It's not my car anymore," before blowing it away.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: While this is present in other episodes, this one cements Cyborg and Gizmo's hatred of each other.
  • Skewed Priorities: Subverted. Cyborg at first is excited when he hears from the thugs that his car won a race, but then he remembers it's stolen and quizzes them about who stole it from the thugs.
    • Played straight early on when he insists that finding his car is more important than bringing the recently-captured Overload to jail.
  • Sorting Algorithm of Evil: Sort of. The first two villains to steal the car are a pair of greasers who lack any powers, then actual villain Gizmo steals it from them and at least poses a threat, finally Overload, a dangerous monster, possesses the car before it's finally destroyed.
  • Swiss-Cheese Security: Cyborg locks the T-Car, but the thugs are still able to steal it.
  • That Man Is Dead: Or car, actually. When Overload assimilates with it shortly after beating Gizmo, Cyborg declared it's not his car anymore and promptly, but bitterly destroys it to stop the villain.
  • Toilet Humor: In the middle of an intense chase, Gizmo briefly farts at Cyborg's reaction when the latter tries grappling him from up close! It's somehow audible despite the background music and all the commotion.
  • Too Dumb to Live: The thugs really didn't think through the consequences of stealing a car belonging to Cyborg, especially with the Titans in tow.
  • Tranquil Fury: When asking around to get his car back, Cyborg keeps his voice dangerously low, and people nervously back away from him when he's just walking. By the time Gizmo has it, though, he's given up on this.
  • Watch the Paint Job: Cyborg has to shoot the car when Overload possesses it and drives it at him. He and Raven then rebuild it.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Overload has a weakness to water.
  • What Does This Button Do?: A literal version, which turns out to be the car's turbo blasters.
  • When She Smiles: The episode closes on Raven helping Cyborg rebuild his car, giving a genuine smile.
