Recap / Teen Titans Go S 3 E 21 Brain Percentages

Go To

Beast Boy starts using more than 10% of his brain in an effort to find the hidden images in a puzzle, and after reaching 95% of his brain, he turns into a computer.

This episode contains examples of:

  • 90% of Your Brain: Beast Boy starts training his brain to not only get smarter, but to finally find that dolphin in the picture. Cyborg is on the real side of it by saying they're already using 100% of it. Beast Boy proves them wrong though.
  • Alas, Poor Yorick: Played for laughs with Beast Boy holding a skull and dressed up like he came from the Renaissance all just from having 10% brain power.
  • Art Shift: As part of showing off his skills at 80% brain power, it shifts to a live action Beast Boy doing the disappearing coin trick.
  • Big "WHAT?!": The Titans have this reaction at Beast Boy doing the disappearing coin trick, and for having it appear in Cyborg's head.
  • Break Them by Talking: After reaching 50% brain power, Beast Boy points out all of the Titans' weaknesses and insecurities, making them run out of the kitchen crying.
  • Failed a Spot Check: The plot is all because Beast Boy can't find the very obvious dolphin in the picture.
  • Flowery Elizabethan English: Beast Boy talks like this after getting 10% brain power.
  • Here We Go Again!: The Titans have this reaction on Beast Boy trying to navigate an utterly simple maze for days!
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: After Cyborg breaks down the 10% of your brain myth, Starfire is horrified to wonder if the media was lying, with Robin saying of course not. We then get a cut of an ad saying "Teen Titans Season 6 Coming Soon" with the Titans drawn from that show.
  • Levitating Lotus Position: Beast Boy is able to do this after reaching 80% brain power.
  • Literal Metaphor: After Robin tells Beast Boy the best way to exercise his brain is to work it out, BB's brain is literally working out.
  • No Man Should Have This Power: Cyborg tells Beast Boy this after he reaches 95% brain power.
  • Orphaned Punchline: Cyborg is telling one of these to the other Titans which gets them all laughing.
Cyborg: So the duck says, "Put it on my bill."
  • Reality Warper: After reaching 100% of his brain, Beast Boy becomes this and teleports himself and the Titans into the picture book.
  • Shrunken Organ: Beast Boy's brain is very tiny that he can just pluck it out of his own ears.
  • Take That!: The show lampoons the 90% of Your Brain trope, specifically Lucy when Beast Boy travels back in time to contact his genetic ancestor and inexplicably becoming a reality warping computer at higher percentages.
  • Unwanted Assistance: Beast Boy refuses to have any of the Titans point out the dolphin until it literally slaps him in the face!
  • We Want Our Jerk Back!: After Beast Boy crushes the Titans' self esteem by being at 50% brain power, they feel it's time for him to get stupid again.
