Recap / Teen Titans Go S 2 E 32 Lets Get Serious

Go To

After the Young Justice heroes easily take out the H.I.V.E. while the Teen Titans make silly jokes, Robin makes the team become more serious.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Acting for Two: Khary Payton voicing both Aqualad and Cyborg.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: The Titans have this for the episode.
  • Art Shift:
    • The Young Justice team of Aqualad, Superboy and Miss Martian are drawn more in their show's style.
    • When the Titans decide to get serious, their bodies and faces become muscular parodies of comic heroes. Even Silkie ends up turning into a muscular singer.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: The Titans split up from each other after an argument that gets too serious, and all because Cyborg drank Beast Boy's juice...only to end up right back together in the next episode preview to Robin's chagrin.
  • Callback: Aqualad recounts all the exploits that the Titans have been up to. Beast Boy and Cyborg are about to sing their pie song until Robin shoos them away. Starfire and Raven also break Jinx out for another girl's night out.
  • Crossover: With Young Justice (2010).
  • Cybernetics Eat Your Soul: Serious!Cyborg worries about this regularly.
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: Serious!Robin tries to slap some sense into Serious!Raven as the fighting threatens to awaken her demonic side.
  • Gone Horribly Right: After the Titans blow up the Hive Five's Kill Sat with an overabundance of firepower, Aqualad tells the Titans that they have gotten serious, but too serious.
  • It Has Been an Honor: Serious!Beast Boy says this before they go fight the Hive Five.
  • It Has Only Just Begun: Aqualad feels it's only the beginning after they take down the Hive Five. Happens again when the Serious Titans go off to another mission.
  • I Work Alone: Serious!Raven has this mentality.
  • Kill Sat: The Hive Five plan to launch one when the Serious Titans confront them.
  • Lantern Jaw of Justice: The Serious Titans have these, including Starfire, Raven, and Silkie.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: The theme of the episode when they decide to get serious.
  • Making a Splash/Morph Weapon: Aqualad knocks out Mammoth by turning his water knife into a fist.
  • Mood Whiplash: The Titans consider the mood shifted when Robin brings up his dead parents.
  • Not So Above It All: Robin points out that even Raven fools around like the other Titans.
  • Pec Flex: Serious!Cyborg does this.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Young Justice!Aqualad gives a scathing one to Robin for not taking things seriously.
Aqualad: I did not wish to say anything, but you and your team have brought nothing but shame to all real superheroes! The Teen Titans are a disgrace!
Robin: Hey, hey, hey! You are way off base buddy! There's no difference between our teams! We may do things a little differently, but we're both just trying to take down the bad guys!
Aqualad: Is that right? (He and Robin turn to see that Starfire and Raven are breaking out Jynx so they can have a girl's night out) Superheroes are supposed to inspire hearts, and teach valuable lessons about friendship and life!
    Robin: We...do...that!
Aqualad: What, lessons like, "books can be dangerous"? Or, "what is better, burgers or burritos"? You are a mockery of everything the world holds sacred about heroes!
Robin: Come on! What is so bad about being a little silly from time to time?
Aqualad: I am all for a good laugh, but the Teen Titans cannot be serious for one single moment! Good day!
    Robin: But-
    Aqualad: I SAID GOOD DAY!
  • Status Quo Is God: At the end of the episode, right after Robin asks if their newfound seriousness will drive the team apart, an On the Next segment shows the Titans returned to their normal, silly selves.
  • Twinkle in the Eye: Superboy gives one of these as he takes down See-More and Billy Numerous.
