- Continuity Nod: When Brooklyn disqualifies Jeffy's hot dog from the dog show despite Jeffy's insistence that a hot dog is a real dog, Jeffy says "Fuck this helmet, fuck this pencil, and fuck this diaper!", which he also said to Mario in "Jeffy's Homework!" when he insisted that 8-4=8 because the 4 is taken away.
- Inanimate Competitor: Zig-zagged. Mr. Bones is the only inanimate competitor that actually gets to compete in the dog show due to Joseph "teaching" him how to play dead and stay. Jeffy, Jackie Chu, and Cody also try to enter their "dogs", but they all get disqualified due to Jeffy's dog being a hot dog, Jackie's being a cooked dog, and Cody's being a naked Ken doll on a leash.
- Pet Contest Episode: Junior and Joseph enter Chompy and Mr. Bones in a dog show hosted by Brooklyn T. Guy. Jeffy, Jackie Chu, and Cody also try to enter their "dogs" (a hot dog, a cooked dog, and a naked Ken on a leash, respectively), but get disqualified.
- Running Gag: There's a running gag where Joseph's "dog" doesn't move because it's a skeleton.
- Toilet Humor: Junior taught Chompy a trick where he poops on command. This doesn't help him during the competition since Brooklyn Guy is grossed out by it.
- Your Mom: When Joseph claims that he has a dog, Junior tells him that the only dog he sees is his mom.
