Recap / Strike Witches 2 Ep 4 Hard Fast Amazing

Go To

The Strike Witches are given possession of a new prototype Messerschmitt Me 262 Jet Striker. Barkhorn takes control for a series of tests where she greatly outperforms Yeager's P-51. But the Me 262 absorbs too much magical energy, and after passing out and crashing, Barkhorn is grounded and the Jet Striker locked up. When a new Neuroi attacks, Yeager is unable to keep up with it, causing Barkhorn to steal the Me 262 to try and save the day.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Artistic License – Geography: Yeager claims that French Fries are from Liberion (America). They are actually from Belgium.
  • Drum Bathing: Done by Yeager, Lucchini, and Miyafuji.
  • Identical Twin Mistake: When Ursula Hartmann shows up out of nowhere (she's there to collect the remains of the Jet Striker), the Strike Witches assume she's just her twin sister Erica. They don't notice until the real Erica appears.
  • No True Scotsman: Barkhorn gives Yeager and Lucchini a lecture about hanging around the hangar dressed only in their bras and panties about how a Karlslander would never do something so shameful. Then Hartmann arrives dressed just like them.
  • Peeling Potatoes: Barkhorn is sentenced to peeling crates full of potatoes as punishment for stealing the Me 262.
  • Shout-Out: The whole episode is a reference to the real tests of the Me 262 Jet. Barkhorn in the episode describes it as "if being pushed by angels," which is the same thing the real life Barkhorn said.
