War Is Hell indeed.
As the war draws to a close, the 110th Platoon is assigned to the European theatre, where they observe the many atrocities committed by their enemies...and their allies.This episode provides examples of:
- An Aesop: Out of the five war episodes; this episode has the darkest lessons:
- The first delivers the horrors of war lesson bluntly: Toad tells about a little girl who lost her twin sister to "an experiment"; not every war refugee can be saved.
- The second combines He Who Fights Monsters with Both Sides Have a Point: Adam is infuriated with the Nazis that he shunts a coach containing German P.O.W.s into the sea, killing them. Edward is beside himself with anger at Adam for committing murder; Adam points out that, after what they saw at the concentration camp, the P.O.W.s deserved it. Edward agrees to that, but is still irate. After it's revealed, everyone is divided over whether Adam should be awarded or condemned. The gist of it is that every action is going to result in two sides and traumatized people don't always think rationally.
- The third sort branches off the second. You can't join a war without developing some sort of trauma, as demonstrated with Adam and Edward.
- Killed Off for Real: Lily puts herself between Henry and a live artillery shell, sacrificing herself after Henry's safety valve burst. As a result, Douglas loses Lily.
- Precision F-Strike:Adam: Gordon, there is no God. And if there is, he sure as hell isn't FUCKING GOOD!!
- Recycled Plot: This episode adapts the events of "Escape", though in this case, Oliver is a radio picket engine, and Thomas is present. As is Blair.

- Vomit Discretion Shot: Adam's Driver does this after seeing the horrors inside the concentration camp's Shed 17.
