Animated by Studio Colorido.

A former Padawan is adopted into an underground rock band after surviving the Great Jedi Purge. When a bounty hunter takes one of his friends to be put to death, he will need to use his wits to pull through and deliver the performance of a lifetime.

Tropes:

  • The Bad Guy Wins: Downplayed. Jabba and Boba Fett are presented as the Big Bad and The Heavy, respectively, and Boba collects on Gee's bounty while Jabba has Gee captured. That said, it’s pretty clear he bows to public pressure to let the band live, though he stands to profit from their future concerts.
  • The Cameo: Blink and you’ll miss it, but Obi-Wan Kenobi is in the crowd enjoying Star Waver's music. Also present are Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes, Wuher the bartender, and Greedo.
  • Conjoined Twins: Lan, the drummer of the band are actually triplets conjoined together. If that's normal for their species or a mutation is never explained.
  • Crazy Enough to Work: Jay strikes a deal with Jabba to allow Gee to play one last song before his execution. The crowd eats it up and allows Jay to press Jabba even further into sponsoring the band, sparing all of their lives.
  • Dare to Be Badass: Jay proclaims that his band is going to be the best in the galaxy and offers to let Jabba be their first sponsor. It works, and in so doing saves them from execution.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After going through all the trauma during the Clone Wars and Order 66, Jay finds a new family in the Star Waver, and together they managed to convince Jabba the Hutt himself to spare Gee's life and becomes the band's sponsor with their epic concert, winning the hearts of thousands of Tatooine population in the process.
  • Foreshadowing: Bordering on Chekhov's Gun, when Jay introduces his band, he mentions their instruments... including a "flaming rumble bass" and "electrified dual guitars." When fighting off the bounty hunters, Gee's flaming rumble bass turns out to be a flamethrower and Kurti's dual guitars are an electric stun gun.
  • Formula-Breaking Episode: This is a rock musical comedy, something not often associated with Star Wars.
  • Karma Houdini: Jabba and Boba Fett aren't near the Skywalkers, so they get out of this unscathed.
  • My Species Doth Protest Too Much: Geezer or "Gee" is a Hutt who has no interest in being part of a crime syndicates like most members of his kind, preferring to run his own band.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: Jay is prepared to fight Boba to stop him from taking Gee, but his broken lightsaber fails to ignite and he's forced to do nothing as the Hutt is taken away.
  • One, Two, Three, Four, Go!: Their droid V-5 is pronounced "V-Go" even in the English dub, reflecting the Japanese roots of the show where "Go" is Japanese for "five."
  • Red Herring: It's implied that Jay has repaired his lightsaber, and manages to sneak it into the final performance as a microphone. He then proceeds to use it as a microphone and nothing else.
  • Stock Scream: The Wilhelm Scream, a staple for the franchise, can be heard after Boba’s arrival causes the gig to collapse into panic.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: As both Kurti and Jay point out, "In the end, we're only just a band". While they're capable of escaping a few bounty hunters, Star Waver wasn't going to be able to keep running from an experienced bounty hunter like Boba Fett forever, who shoots them down and takes Gee. Likewise, they knew they had no chance of fighting off Jabba's minions in his own home turf, so they instead strike a couple deals with the Hutt crimelord that saves their lives.
  • Win-Win Ending: Jabba captures the heroes, but because he likes their music and sees their potential, he spares their lives, instead sponsoring them.
