Quite a master of disguise, eh?
Potato Puff

Original air date: 4/22/2022 (produced in 2021)

Fearing another driving test with SpongeBob, Mrs. Puff consults a way to be "with" him, but not necessarily in the boat. She swaps her position in the boat with a large potato, keeping contact with SpongeBob through a walkie-talkie while she stays in the lighthouse. But when SpongeBob winds up on the open road and Mrs. Puff isn't there to stop him, how far will he go?

" Potato Puff " contains examples of:

  • Ahem: By the real Mrs. Puff when she steps onto the scene of SpongeBob crying over thinking he killed her in the crash, causing him to stop crying and realize everything.
  • Bait-and-Switch: When Mrs. Puff turns on the TV, it looks like she's watching a romance movie, but then it turns out she's watching wrestling.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: Mrs. Puff cheats on SpongeBob’s driving test by bailing out of it when she was supposed to be with him and instead replacing herself with a potato while talking with him on a walkie talkie and not really paying attention to his performance on the test to watch tv instead. This sets off a chain of events that ends with a one way ticket to jail for Mrs. Puff
  • Double-Meaning Title: A quadruple meaning title, referring to both the potato that Mrs. Puff replaces herself with, and her becoming a couch potato without needing to watch him. It's also a pun on a food, "potato puffs", and a species of fish called the potato puffer.
  • Gross-Up Close-Up: Of the multiple eyes surrounding the face on the potato when SpongeBob says, "It really brings out all your eyes."
  • I Can See My House from Here: When SpongeBob and Mrs. Puff are falling in their boat, SpongeBob says he can see Mrs. Puff's house. He promptly crashes into it.
  • Medium Blending:
    • When the potato gets smashed, it turns into a pile of live-action mashed potatoes with gravy.
    • In fact, the potato itself is a live-action potato, just with outlines drawn on it to fit in more with the animated environment.
  • Ocular Gushers: SpongeBob sheds them when he thinks he killed Mrs. Puff in the car crash after the potato gets mashed.
  • Peeling Potatoes: Mrs. Puff's punishment for replacing herself as a potato? Going to jail and being forced to peel potatoes.
  • Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: After the potato gets smashed from crashing into a biker gang, SpongeBob believes he accidentally killed Mrs. Puff and cries over her death; however, the real Mrs. Puff shows up moments later, and he realizes the misunderstanding and is relieved.
  • Running Gag: When Mrs. Puff sees Bikini Bottom in chaos, Fred yells, "MY LEG!"
  • Unflinching Walk: Parodied. SpongeBob blows up a dynamite factory. A giant explosion is seen before him; he continues driving with a smile, not even flinching or looking back. He then puts on a pair of sunglasses.
  • Walkie-Talkie Gag, Over: Through the walkie-talkie, SpongeBob overhears Mrs. Puff's personal comments as commands for his driving test. For example, when she says that she has no popcorn left, SpongeBob immediately turns left and off the driving course.

There Will Be Grease

Original air date: 4/29/2022 (produced in 2021)

A puddle of miracle grease, created from the runoff between chum and Krabby Patties, appears between the Krusty Krab and Chum Bucket. Plankton and Mr. Krabs set out to monetize it, advertising it as a catch-all miracle cure to everyone in town — at the cost of an unexpected side effect.

"There Will Be Greese" contains examples of:

  • Berate and Switch: Mrs. Puff is offended by Mr. Krabs suggesting that the grease can hide blemishes on her face. She still buys some, anyways.
  • Enemy Mine: Mr. Krabs and Plankton must work together to monetize the substance they unintentionally created together.
  • Funny Background Event: A poster of Dr. Krabton becomes scared as the angry Bikini Bottomites confront Plankton and Krabs.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The episode title is a spoof of There Will Be Blood.
  • Status Quo Is God: Plankton and Krabs are enemies again by the end of the episode.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: What happened to Karen? She explains what the grease is, and then disappears from the episode. There's nothing on how she feels about Plankton and Krabs working together, or what she would want to use the money on.

Mrs. Puff "mashed"

When the potato Mrs. Puff used to fool SpongeBob gets mashed up, SpongeBob thinks he killed her and cries, only for the real Mrs. Puff to show up not long after and he realizes everything.

How well does it match the trope?
