The Krusty Bucket

Original air date: 8/10/2019 (produced in 2018)

In his latest scheme, Plankton uses his and Mr. Krabs' DNA to create a combo clone named PlanKrab. PlanKrab quickly takes over both the Krusty Krab and Chum Bucket combined, leaving Plankton and Krabs to team up and stop him for good.

"The Krusty Bucket" contains examples of:

  • The Ace: PlanKrab is the perfect combination of Krabs and Plankton, having Mr Krabs' business skills and Plakton's intelligence at the same time, while having none of Krabs' greed and Plankton's incompetence, thus making him the perfect businessman. This allows him not only to easily steal the Krabby Patty's secret formula but of taking over the Krusty Krab and Chum Bucket effortlessly, using his handshake, and of fusing the two into an incredibly successful restaurant. He is even able of bettering the Krabby Patty's formula with Plankton's chum, something neither Krabs or Plankton had thought of before.
  • Affably Evil: PlanKrab acts like a polite gentleman and a fair boss, but is also manipulative and backstabbing.
  • The Cameo: Colonel Carper is seen exiting the Krusty Krab.
  • Either/Or Title: Promotional material called this episode "SpongeBob Meets PlanKrab".
  • Enemy Mine: Mr. Krabs and Plankton decide to team up to stop PlanKrab and get their restaurants back.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: PlanKrab ends up splitting apart after he witnesses Plankton and Mr. Krabs fighting, and it causes both halves of the clone to fight as badly as their counterparts.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: PlanKrab is melted by his own handshake.
  • Hybridization Plot: Plankton creates a hybrid clone from his and Mr. Krabs' DNA in yet another attempt to get the secret formula for the Krabby Patty. The resulting clone, PlanKrab, has Krabs' business sense and Plankton's intelligence and is able to quickly take over the Krusty Krab and win over even SpongeBob and Squidward. However, he now has no need for Plankton, and kicks him out of the restaurant. Krabs and Plankton then have to team up to get rid of PlanKrab and his new business.
  • I'm Melting!: SpongeBob and Squidward do this at different points when PlanKrab shakes their hands. It gets weaponized by Mr. Krabs and Plankton when they trick PlanKrab into shaking his own hand after he is split apart.
  • Literal Split Personality: PlanKrab undergoes this when he sees Plankton and Mr. Krabs arguing and blaming each other, with both halves of the clone fighting each other just as much. The half with Mr. Krabs’ personality has his nose, red claws, eye and eyelid color, but his body has Plankton’s color scheme, while it’s all reversed with the half that has Plankton’s personality.
  • Manipulative Bastard: PlanKrab to the point where he can get what he wants from people just by shaking their hand.
  • Mix-and-Match Man: PlanKrab is a hybrid spliced from Plankton and Mr. Krab's DNA. This turns out to make him the ultimate (unscrupulous) businessman capable of outdoing both his genetic sources.
  • Mythology Gag: When a customer asks SpongeBob why the Krabby Patties taste better than usual, he mentions the only addition to the recipe was "a pinch of chum."
  • Never My Fault: Mr. Krabs and Plankton blame each other for the destruction of the Krusty Bucket'snote  bathroom even though they chose to fight with each other.
    Plankton: He did it!
    Mr. Krabs: He did it!
Both Plankton and Mr. Krabs: No, he did it!
  • Ocular Gushers: Mr. Krabs and Plankton do this after realizing they've been tricked by PlanKrab into giving up their restaurants.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: PlanKrab has not only Squidward happy to work for him, but also SpongeBob, who is usually extremely dedicated to Mr. Krabs and cries at the thought of losing Mr. Krabs as a boss. PlanKrab is just that persuasive.
  • Other Me Annoys Me: A variant. When PlanKrab undergoes a Literal Split Personality and both halves start fighting each other, Mr. Krabs and Plankton have this to say:
Mr. Krabs: Jeez, is that what we sound like?
Plankton: I hope not, 'cause that's pathetic.
  • Perma-Stubble: Both Plankton and Mr. Krabs have this after losing both their restaurants and being left on the street.
  • Running Gag: Plankton coughing up hair.
  • Shout-Out:
  • The Starscream: PlanKrab.
  • Swirlie: Plankton gives one to Mr. Krabs after the latter falls into a toilet.
  • Title Drop: The Krusty Bucket is also the name of the restaurant PlanKrab makes by combining both the Krusty Krab and the Chum Bucket.
  • Unstoppable Rage: PlanKrab becomes furious when he sees that Mr. Krabs and Plankton destroyed the Krusty Bucket'snote  bathroom, causing himself to split into two halves that uncontrollably argue with each other. They are about to enter a physical fight, but they melt when they shake hands before the fight was even able to start.

Squid's on a Bus

Original air date: 9/28/2019 (produced in 2018)

Squidward couldn't be unhappier about his bad bus rides in the morning, and bets the bus driver that they should do each other's job for the day. Everything goes well until SpongeBob and Patrick hop aboard and aren't planning to get off.

"Squid's on a Bus" contains examples of:

  • Big "NO!": Squidward does this when SpongeBob gets on his bus.
  • Bowdlerise: UK airings of the episode cut out the scene where Plankton tries to flush Mr. Krabs down the toilet for fears that children may try to imitate it.
  • Childish Pillow Fight: Squidward unintentionally starts one between the residents of Bikini Bottom after tossing SpongeBob's pillow out the bus window.
  • Closer than They Appear: SpongeBob says this line when he shapes himself into the rearview mirror.
  • Paying in Coins: SpongeBob pays the bus fare with tons of pennies, and later gets Patrick to do the same.
  • Riddle for the Ages: With SpongeBob riding the bus all day, someone has to have served as fry cook for the Krusty Krab, but we never learn just who it was.
  • Squashed Flat: Nearly happens to SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward after falling below ocean depths and the undersea pressure starts crushing the bus.
  • Swapped Roles: The plot is kicked off by Squidward and a disgruntled bus driver switching jobs to see who can do the other's job better.
  • Tempting Fate: At one point, Squidward says only one thing can make this worse. Sure enough, he sees Patrick waiting at the bus stop.
  • Who Is Driving?: Patrick asks this when Squidward comes over to try and kick him off the bus. Squidward replies, "Me, of course" before noticing that they are about to drive off a cliff.
  • Wingding Eyes:
    • At one point, Squidward's eyes resemble slot machines that stop on SpongeBob and Patrick laughing.
    • SpongeBob's pupil turns into a turn signal while pretending to drive.
