Peter becomes the new water boy for his school's football team in the hopes of joining the team one day. When star player Roy Robinson is kidnapped by the villainous Skymaster, Spider-Man takes to the sky and rescue Robinson before the team loses the big game.
This episode provides examples of:
- Big Game: Peter's high-school is set to play off in the biggest football match of the season, just in time for their star player to be kidnapped and held for ransom. It's race against time as Peter tries to rescue Robinson before his team loses the game.
- Down to the Last Play: In the final quarter, Peter's team is down by four points with only a minute left on the clock. Luckily, Peter is able to get Roy back in time for him to score the winning touchdown.
- Dread Zeppelin: The Skymaster pilots a giant zeppelin, which he uses as his main base of operations. He's able to hide his armies by disguising his zeppelin as an ordinary cloud, allowing him to avoid detection from the people below.
- Hostage for MacGuffin: The Skymaster kidnaps Roy and holds him ransom in exchange for an invisibility serum his father's company was working on.
- No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Peter risks neck and limb to rescue Roy, and helps him score the winning touchdown. This leads to Peter's coach kicking him off the team, as he was completely absent for the entire game.
- Protagonist-Centered Morality: Roy's in bad shape after being held captive by the Skymaster and he admits that he won't be able to play very well. To help him out, Peter uses his webbing to direct the ball into Roy's arms and help win the game. While Peter acts like he's doing the right thing by helping Roy out, he never acknowledges that he's helping his team win by cheating.
- What You Are in the Dark: With Roy captured, the team is down their star player before the biggest game in the season. Peter knows he can take advantage of this and fill in for Roy for the match, but admits that the right thing to do is to find the Skymaster and bring Roy back safely.
