Go To

Original air date: 10/17/2018

Randy decides he should move the family to the country and take up pot farming. Meanwhile, the boys confront Butters, who's been selling vape pens and all kinds of fruity-flavored vape accessories at school.

Tropes:

  • Bait-and-Switch: When Randy was talking about moving out into the country and running a farm, Sharon clearly didn't think he meant a 'cannabis' farm.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Randy and Towelie stop the vape company at the end.
  • Blackmail: Cartman uses this against Kyle to keep him from telling the adults about his vaping business.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: While explaining his desire to move to the country, Randy recaps the previous events in Season 22, saying he's not laughing anymore. While he does this, he looks out his car window, but with how the camera is positioned, he's looking at the audience.
  • The Bus Came Back: After a long absence since season 14, Towelie returns.
  • Call-Back: Randy recalls the events in the previous three episodes as his reason why he wants to move out of South Park and become a pot farmer.
    • This isn't the first time Randy's unhappiness with life resulted in the house being sold and people moving.
  • Call to Agriculture: After finally getting fed up with the events of the past few episodes, Randy moves to the titular farm with his family.
  • Combat Pragmatism: The vape executive has no qualms about punching Randy while he's having a Golden Moment with his son.
  • Continuity Nod: School shootings are still a common recurrence in South Park Elementary.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Subverted; Cartman is initially appalled by Butters selling vapes, but it's a cover-up to hide his involvement.
  • Everyone Has Standards: The Vape guy doesn't want to take Kyle's birthday money.
  • Feeling Oppressed by Their Existence: Randy towards the vaping company.
  • Frame-Up: Butters & Cartman attempt to frame a vape dealer for murdering a prostitute.
  • The Ghost: Ronan Farrow is mentioned several times by Cartman when he threatens to call him if Kyle reveals the truth, but he doesn't appear physically.
  • He Knows Too Much: Cartman tries to shut Kyle up and prevent him from speaking to any adult about him selling vape to the kindergarteners.
  • Hypocrite:
    • Randy assaults vapers (and destroys their building) for practicing a lifestyle he doesn't approve of, and then makes a commercial where he claims that his way of life is being suppressed.
    • In the intro, Randy accuses Sharon of under-reacting, despite him under-reacting to Sharon's distress about the school shootings.
  • Hypocrite Has a Point: While Randy has no right to call out the vaping industry (as he's using many of the same underhanded tactics such as exploiting kids to make money off of drug-based products), he's still right as they're trying to get kids addicted to an unhealthy habit.
  • Idiot Ball:
    • If Cartman didn't want Kyle to interfere with his vape business, he shouldn't have told him that Ike was using vape pens. To be fair, this is Cartman we are talking about, who is prone to Insane Troll Logic.
    • Then Kyle was willing to pay off Cartman and Butters' debt with his own money, only for the duo to try and frame a vape dealer for murdering a prostitute, already digging themselves deeper into trouble.
  • Karma Houdini: Randy gets away with destroying an entire building over a business rivalry, while Butters and Cartman get away with destroying the same company, selling vaping pens to kindergarteners, multiple instances of blackmail, assault, and moving a dead body around.
  • Noodle Incident: It's never explained why Kyle is worried about Ronan Farrow.
  • Not So Above It All: At certain points, Kyle gets paranoid that Ronan Farrow might actually be after him.
  • One-Man Army: Randy Marsh single handily beats up everyone in the vape factory before blowing said factory up.
  • Paper Tiger: The burly man who threatens the middle-aged Randy gets taken out by him very fast.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: After Randy gets beaten up by the vaping executive, this exchange occurs.
Vaping Executive: Didn't your mommy teach you it doesn't pay to mess with progress?
Randy: Yeah. She taught me somethin' else, too. If you're gonna fight for your tegridy, don't forget to bring a towel.
  • Running Gag:
    • Cartman threatening to tell Ronan Farrow on Kyle.
    • "Two Princes" playing anytime someone wears the hemp hat.
  • Selective Obliviousness: Randy honestly thinks his family loves living on Tegridy farms, despite them all clearly being miserable and Stan even bluntly stating he hates him. This hatred does not go away for the entire season.
  • Status Quo Is God: Averted. By the end of the episode, the Marsh family is still living at Tegridy Farm.
  • Take That!: At the vaping culture and how various aspects of it (in particular, the various flavors of vape) makes it appealing for people under the age of 18. Also at legalizing cannabis in the US/Canada — just because it's legal doesn't mean that everyone is going to automatically use it, like it, or accept it as their lifestyle.
  • This Is for Emphasis, Bitch!: Following the Pre-Asskicking One-Liner.
    Towelie: Vape on this, bitch!
  • Would Hurt a Child: The vaping executive threatens to break Kyle, Cartman, and Butters' legs when he sees them trying to steal vaping liquid.
