Original air date: 10/10/2007

Randy becomes South Park's hometown hero when the guys down at the local bar see the size of his most recent crap.

Tropes:

  • The Ace: Bono has achieved every award that can be attained. This is actually played as a reason to dislike him, because he can't stand to be number 2 to anyone and will go to dramatic lengths to be number 1, even if it means cheating someone out of their one fulfilling accomplishment that it is just one of thousands for him.
  • Audience Surrogate: Sharon represents the viewers grossed out by this episode's premise and baffled at how seriously everyone is treating it.
  • Bait-and-Switch: At first it seemed like the Guinness Book of World Records were called by Randy and the gang explaining the giant crap and were told by the exasperated secretary to contact the European Fecal Standards and Measurements Office to do so. She then gets another call a few seconds later but this time we cut away to see that it actually is them on the phone this time. What's made even funnier is that the unknown caller from before is told that Guinness gets calls from men saying they took the biggest poop all the time. She even says just before Randy calling her "Jeez, another one!"
  • Berserk Button: Never insinuate Bono is a "Number 2".
  • Beyond the Impossible: Bono's butler warns Stan against letting his father try to beat Bono's record since besting such a size would likely be life threatening. Randy still manages to take a gargantuan crap estimated at 100 "Courics".
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Sharon asking why men are so obsessed with how big their crap is.
  • Fighting Irish: Irish-born Bono is defined solely by his competitive streak.
  • I'm Standing Right Here: After finding out that Bono beat his record, Randy throws a tantrum in front of Stan, saying that his massive turd is the only good thing he ever created in his life, apparently forgetting about his two children. Stan replies in a deadpan voice, "Gee, thanks Dad".
  • It's All About Me: Stan calls Bono out on this. He pleads with him to just drop the competition, noting his father just wants to win one award in his life, which Bono is obsessively protective of upholding despite having infinite others.
Stan: Dude, don't you have enough?...At some point can't you just fuck off?
  • Literal Metaphor: All throughout the episode, Bono is referred to as "a piece of shit". It is later revealed that Bono's father took a crap weighing as much as Bono many years ago and raised it, until it somehow came to life, to become the egotistical superstar he is now. In other words, Bono is literally a piece of shit.
  • Running Gag: There are three instances where an Emmy Award appears at the bottom of the screen (with the words "Emmy Award Winning Series" appearing next to it) while some Toilet Humor is happening.
  • Selective Enforcement: While Bono only has to show a photo as evidence of his record, he forces Randy to take his in Zurich with professional witnesses, despite the officials noting they never made that rule before. As it turns out the reason he got this treatment is because Bono is the record itself which the institute leader adopted.
  • Serious Business: For Randy, and other men in the show (including Stan), taking a huge crap is such a big deal (but for women they're just disgusted and don't get the whole thing), he refuses to flush the toilet. He then calls Guinness to record the measurements, only for them to forward him to a more relevant "European Fecal Standards and Measurements".
  • Shown Their Work: The opening graphic that's used when Bono introduces himself was lifted from the Discotheque music video.
  • Take That!:
    • Bono is put through the wringer; one stand-out moment is when he's stated to be helping an impoverished village, only to show him doing nothing but strutting through the streets to the tune of "Vertigo".
    • The unit of measure for judging the size of craps is called "Courics" in honor(?) of the television journalist.
    • They also poke fun of the Emmys in this episode as the trophy appears alongside the words "Emmy Award Winning Series" whenever someone tries to take the biggest crap ever. In fact, at the end of the episode, one of the leaders of the European officials sticks the trophy into Randy's giant crap.
  • Toilet Humor: A whole episode revolving around poop? Doesn't get any more toilet humor than that.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: The rivalry between Randy and Bono is a reference to The King of Kong. An unknown man sets an obscure record, a more famous record holder claims to beat it without proof and uses his pull to make the challenger's quest to reclaim it harder.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: After getting upstaged by Bono and feeling depressed, Gerald and the other guys tell Randy that he could surpass his previous record with enough effort (mostly diet-related).
