Recap / Sonic X S3 E21 "The Cosmo Conspiracy"

Go To

Air date: April 13th, 2005 (JP), April 1st, 2006 (US)

This episode contains examples of:

  • Big "NO!": In the Japanese version, Cosmo screams this at the end of the episode when it's revealed that she's an unwitting spy for the Metarex.
  • Curb-Stomp Cushion: The Knuckles vs. Shadow fight. The former very quickly leaves the latter on the floor two bouts in a row. However, within that time, Knuckles is able to throw Shadow's rolling form smack into a wall. The second scuffle also drains Shadow to the point he nearly faints from exhaustion, though that may be because he had to take off his Inhibitor Rings to use more power than he's used to (oddly enough, 4Kids cut out this scene, making it more on par with a Curb-Stomp Battle).
  • Hero Antagonist: Shadow.
  • Mistaken for Spies: Double Subverted. Shadow spends all episode hunting down Cosmo because he believes she is a spy working for Dark Oak. It turns out he was correct, but she didn't know. When Dark Oak reveals this to her, the reason why she was the Sole Survivor, she freaks out.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Shadow on why he tries to attack Cosmo:
Shadow: I have a reason, but I'm not going to tell you!
    • In the Japanese version, he says that it would be better for her not to know, presumably because he empathises with her for being someone else's weapon without her knowing and thinks what he's doing is (in a pragmatic, harsh way) more merciful.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Tails. He outsmarts the Ultimate Life Form and manages to persist against his beatings in order to protect Cosmo!
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Sonic and the others have this reaction towards Shadow when he is trying to kill Cosmo and refusing to explain why.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Shadow attempts to kill Cosmo.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Shadow doesn't have any qualms attacking Tails when he gets in his way.
