Sonic begins settling in with a human boy named Chris. However, there's no time to relax when a news report concerning Cream the Rabbit and her pet Chao Cheese alerts him to their capture. Sonic must now work together with Chris and his grandfather to save them from Area 99's team.
This episode contains examples of:
- Accidental Tickle Torture: Chuck Thorndyke gets this reaction out of Sonic by poking his back with a screwdriver, believing him to be a machine and eager to disassemble him and find out.
- Big Bad: Everyone at Area 99.
- Big Damn Heroes: Sonic rescues Cream and Cheese from Area 51. Tails however steals the moment when his paper airplanes help Sonic, Cream, and Cheese escape Area 99 and cause their tech to go on the fritz, and when he shows up himself by coming to their rescue. After introducing himself to Chris and Chuck, he says he helps out, but Sonic’s the real hero.
- Damsel in Distress: Cream and Cheese are both captured by the personnel of Area 99 and need Sonic to save them.
- Friendly Tickle Torture: Cheese briefly nuzzles Sonic after he breaks Cream out of captivity.
- I Ate WHAT?!: This is Sonic's reaction when Chris feeds him dry cat food.
- Karma Houdini: Despite what they did to Cream, Area 99 is still operational the same in the following episodes and story arcs. They weren't even given so much as a rebuke for their misunderstanding and potentially harming a child.
- Mistaken for Aliens: Moreso machine than alien, but after seeing Sonic for the first time, Chuck Thorndyke believes him to be a machine and is eager to disassemble him and find out. Played more straight with Cream and Cheese after they are both taken to Area 99 for "study".
- Pain to the Ass: Downplayed, but this is Sonic's reaction after sliding down an air vent while breaking into Area 99.Sonic: It feels like I have skid marks on my butt.
- Would Hurt a Child: Area 99's personnel capture Cream (and Cheese) who, mind you, is only 6 years old. There's a possibility that they could've tortured them.
