- Big Damn Heroes: Sonic takes out a tree cutting machine called the shedder on his own. Later in the episode, After Antoine takes out a power ring from the laser, hands it over to Sonic, whom uses it to finish off the swatbots and the Sonic laser before speed off, dragging Angeline with him.
- Deadly Dodging: At the climax of the episode, Sonic takes advantage of Robotnik's Sonic Radar (which can only detect him when he runs at "super-sonic speed") to bait him into laser-blasting his own machine.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Robotnik sounds surprised that Antoine seemingly betrayed his friends in order to give him the Power Ring, even asking him why he betrayed them.

- Hoist by His Own Petard: Sonic defeats the Shredder by tricking it into sawing its own legs off.
- "I Can't Look!" Gesture: The Freedom Fighters all cover their eyes as Sonic charges the Shredder's sawblades.
- I Was Just Joking: When Antoine bemoans that Sally pays more attention to Sonic than him, Rotor remarks that Sonic is a tough act to follow, and that it would take something major to impress her. When Antoine asks "Like what?", Rotor jokes that he could capture Robotnik and bring him back to Knothole. Antoine takes the suggestion seriously and tries to do just that. Later, when they find Antoine missing and evidence of him taking a Power Ring, Rotor promptly goes Oh, Crap!, realizing that Antoine actually took his suggestion seriously.
- Love Makes You Dumb: Antoine is so desperate to impress Sally and win her heart that he takes Rotor's joking suggestion to capture Robotnik to do so seriously. Because of this, Antoine gets himself captured and nearly roboticized, with Robotnik acquiring a Power Ring to use for his latest scheme.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: The entire mess of the episode is caused when Rotor jokingly suggests to Antoine that the only way he could really get Sally's attention is by capturing Robotnik and bringing him back to Knothole.
- Oh, Crap!: Rotor's reaction to what Antoine's done is a simple "Uh-oh".
- Pit Trap: Antoine sets this trap to catch Robotnik so he can be praised as a hero and win the hand of Princess Sally. Unfortunately, Robotnik uses his jet boots to fly out of the pit.
- Post-Kiss Catatonia: Subverted. It looks like Sonic's gone into shock after Sally gives him a peck on the cheek... but he gets back up, says he was just kidding, and that the kiss wasn't that great. He then shows her what a real kiss is, much to Tails' disgust.
- Refuse to Rescue the Disliked: Antoine ends up captured by Robotnik in a reckless stunt with a power ring. While the other Freedom Fighters are horrified, Sonic just snarks it's his own stupid fault and refuses to go on a rescue mission. When Sally's chiding doesn't budge him, he begrudgingly goes through with it after she points out the more pragmatic issue of Robotnik using his power ring against them.
- Sarcasm-Blind: Rotor jokingly suggests to Antoine that the only way he could really get Sally's attention away from Sonic is by capturing Robotnik on his own. Unfortunately, Antoine doesn't realize it's just a joke and tries to do exactly that.
- Vot Ocksent?: Antoine has to explain to Rotor what he means when he keeps calling Sonic a "fuel". When Rotor figures out that Antoine means "fool", Antoine replies "Zats what I said, a fuel!"
- Walking Out on the Show: One by one, the Freedom Fighters leave during Antoine's self-glorifying story. Only Tails is left.
- With Friends Like These...: When Antoine gets captured, Sonic just labels him an idiot and outright refuses to go after him. Sally is unable to really retort that Antoine would actually save him if the roles were reversed, only coaxing him into the job by reminding him of the potential danger if Robotnik gets a hold of the Power Ring he had at the point of his capture.
- Women Prefer Strong Men: Rotor suggests to Antoine that this is why Sally prefers Sonic over him.
- You Have Failed Me: Said by Robotnik to an ill fated SWATBot.
