Eggman’s anti-gravity ray causes chaos in Hedgehog Village. With newfound confidence, Cubot tries to bring enlightenment to the villagers.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Are You Pondering What I'm Pondering?: Eggman tells Orbot and Cubot not to touch anything before leaving to go get his gravity boots. When they knock over his anti-gravity ray, they realize why…well, one of them does at least.
Orbot: Now I see why Dr. Eggman wanted his gravity boots.
Cubot: Because fashion week’s just around the corner?
  • Bait-and-Switch: A few in this episode:
    • After the cashier Eggman is ordering from floats away, the doctor states that it’s finally time for him to step in…and make his own fries.
    • Sonic compliments Tails’ flying skills and Tails thanks him, telling him he learned from the best. It’s implied that he means Sonic, but Tails quickly clarifies that it’s TV he learned from.
  • Big "NO!": Eggman yells this when, after the anti-gravity ray's reversal, he drops one of the fries he made just out of reach and can't get to it because he's weighed down.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Eggman orders his minions to get him, Orbot, and Cubot down from the beam of the anti-gravity ray, not thinking about how it’ll pick them up too.
  • Don't Celebrate Just Yet: Everyone thinks the day is saved when Sonic flips the switch on the anti-gravity ray. It turns out that he didn’t turn it off, but rather he put it in reverse.
  • Enlightened Antagonist: Cubot becomes this after he becomes merged with the anti-gravity ray and believes that everyone should float freely.
  • Faux Horrific: Sonic loses his cool not because all of his friends (minus Tails) have been hit with the anti-gravity ray, but because Cubot says they are now free to express themselves.
Sonic: Oh, no! The last thing we want is Amy expressing herself!
  • Fun with Homophones: As Eggman’s titular ray picks up a cannon, Sonic remarks, “Great, now he’s affecting Canon.”
  • Hidden Depths: Knuckles has a comment on Amy's eagerness to score one for the girls that results in Stunned Silence.
Knuckles: You know, Amy, any time someone calls attention to the breaking of gender roles, it ultimately undermines the concept of gender equality by implying that this is an exception and not the status quo.
(the others simply stare wide-eyed at him, shocked silent by his unexpectedly insightful comment)
Knuckles: What? Just because I'm a meathead doesn't mean I'm not a feminist.
  • Mythology Gag: This isn't the first Sonic cartoon in which Eggman has used an anti-gravity ray, complete with self-gravity boots.
  • Strange Salute: When Sonic and Tails don their spacesuits before going into the latter's plane to reverse the anti-gravity ray's effect, they give each other a thumbs-up.
  • That Poor Cat: Eggman is getting the parts together to invent something to stop the anti-gravity ray when he sees that Sonic is on the case. He throws the part in his hand to the side, apparently hitting a cat in the process.
  • You Go, Girl!: During a game of soccer, Amy prepares to make a penalty kick, and starts boasting in third-person narration about proving that females can be just as good as males at sports, when Knuckles makes a surprisingly-insightful comment on this trope.
