Go To

The second episode of the second season of Sonic Boom.

While on a mission in space, Dr. Eggman detects a giant asteroid...which just happens to be approaching the Earth. He sets aside his evil plans for a bit and rallies Team Sonic to prevent imminent destruction, but things quickly get a little more than complicated.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: When Eggman shows his secret underground bunker to Orbot and Cubot, he tells them it can withstand zombie apocalypses, robot uprisings, and misguided people who hand out pamphlets.
  • Drawing Straws: Unable to figure who he should allow in his bunker, Eggman sends Cubot out to have the attendees draw straws. After wondering if he should include someone he hates to replace Sonic as his new nemesis, Cubot returns - with drawings of straws.
Cubot: I like the bendy one!
  • Go-Karting with Bowser: Eggman assures Team Sonic and the villagers that the approaching asteroid is definitely not a joke. He even takes the opportunity to make a Shout-Out:
  • Medium Awareness: Sonic is ready to use Eggman's rocket to go up to space and destroy the asteroid, but the others think Knuckles should go on account of his strength, despite the hedgehog's arguments. The following exchange occurs:
Sonic: But how often do I get to literally save the world?!
Knuckles: (holding a piece of paper) According to the TV listings, about once a week.note
  • Mustache Vandalism: Dr. Eggman takes Orbot and Cubot to his secret underground bunker, where he finds the place vandalized by them. He orders them to clean it up, including wiping a mustache off of a picture of him. Since Eggman already has a mustache, he gives us this line:
Eggman: And get that mustache off my mustache!
  • Oh Wait, This Is My Grocery List: Instead of giving Knuckles instructions on how to operate his Solar Convergence Device (with pictures), Tails accidentally gives him his shopping list, leading to this line:
Knuckles: (backed by the theme to Curb Your Enthusiasm) Milk, tomatoes, tail conditioner? These instructions are more complicated than I thought!
