The ninteenth episode of the first season of Sonic Boom.
Sonic's speed causes a deafening tone every time the blue hedgehog runs, so he turns to Dr. Eggman for a solution. Eggman invents specially-designed noise-muting shoes, which are later revealed to be the power souce for Eggman's latest destructive giant robot.
This episode provides examples of:
- Argument of Contradictions: When Eggman reveals to Sonic that his new shoes are what powers Giant Robot, Sonic gets the idea to run circles around Giant Robot to cause his power system to overload. When Sticks sees this, she calls this idea crazy, while Knuckles calls it stupid. Sticks and Knuckles argue with each other over whether the idea is crazy or stupid until Tails says the idea is brilliant.
- Bait-and-Switch: After Sonic's advice to his friends on how to defeat an army of Crab Bots does more harm than good, Sticks says "This ends now!" Cut to Sonic being tied to a tree, who then says "Hey, I thought you were talking about them!"
- Deadpan Snarker: When Sonic turns to Eggman for a solution to his deafening tone, Sticks tells Sonic that Eggman is his sworn enemy, and if he listens to him, he'll end up tied to something. Sonic, who is already tied to a tree as a result of his help doing more harm than good to his friends, responds with "Yeah, I wouldn't want that to happen." in a sarcastic tone.
- A Dog Named "Dog": Eggman names his giant robot "Giant Robot". He then tells Sonic that he was too busy planning the trap to come up with a better name.
- Hypocritical Humor: After Eggman gives Sonic new shoes to prevent the sound, he returns to his friends, who are in the middle of a volleyball session, and proceeds to dominate as usual. This exchange then occurs:Sonic: Yeah! Sonic's back, baby!
Amy: Don't refer to yourself in the third person. It's creepy.
Knuckles: Yeah. Knuckles hates that. - Nice Job Breaking It, Hero:
- The deafening tone from Sonic's speed causes Tails to lose control of his Tailsmobile and nearly fall into lava. After Sonic rescues Tails, the fox wastes no time telling him off for making the deafening noise.
- When Sonic is unable to help his friends fight off an army of Crab Bots due to his speed making a deafening noise, he decides to tell his friends how to defeat them. At one point, Sonic tells Amy to perform her secret triple backflip move. Unfortunately, one Crab Bot overhears and attacks Amy, who tells Sonic "It's not a secret if you tell everyone!"
- Not Me This Time: After Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Sticks defeat the Crab Bots without Sonic's help, Eggman tells Sonic that he didn't send them out, as Orbot and Cubot were dusting and accidentally hit a button in the lair.
- The Unreveal: Eggman somehow managed to make Sonic produce a deafening sound whenever he dashed, but when he tries to show a presentation explaining how he did it, Amy smashes the projector. Sonic also never changes his shoes onscreen, preventing viewers from seeing the shape of his feet.
