When Pete finds Clark's spaceship in a cornfield, Clark defies his parents' wishes and reveals to Pete that the spaceship is his, prompting a shocking reaction from Pete. Lionel comes to Smallville and decides to stay at the Luthor Mansion.

- Sarcastic Confession: When Chloe questions Pete about seeing a spaceship in a cornfield, Pete (who's angry with Clark for keeping his secret from him) sarcastically tells her that he saw an alien and that it looked a lot like Clark.Chloe: My source from the medical center called. He said the guy was rambling on about some spacecraft that landed in a cornfield.Clark: You don't really believe that, do you?Chloe: I don't know, not unless Pete can corroborate the story.Pete: Sure, Chloe, I saw a spaceship. - So Proud of You: In the final act, Jonathan expresses this to Pete before warning him that Keeping Secrets Sucks.Jonathan: Pete, I'm proud of you. But I hope you realize what a tremendous responsibility knowing this secret is. And believe me, it's not gonna get any easier.Clark: That's my dad's way of saying "Welcome to the family."

- What the Hell, Hero?: To put it simply, Jonathan isn't pleased when Clark tells him and Martha that he told Pete the truth about himself.Clark: Look, I don't want you guys to freak out, all right? But I told Pete... everything. I didn't have a choice. He saw us.Jonathan: What do you mean? You could have come to us first!Clark: And come up with another lie?
