Tropes

  • All Your Base Are Belong to Us: At some point between seasons the Rebellion was forced to abandon Bright Moon due to it being impractical to defend. They are forced to abandon their makeshift base as well once it is attacked by the Galactic Horde. Fortunately they quickly make a new base in the Whispering Woods.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Perfuma openly questions whether the Rebellion still considers Shadow Weaver a prisoner or not.
  • As You Know: Mermista lists off the multiple reasons on why using the Heart of Etheria project is a bad idea.
  • Birds of a Feather: Scorpia gets along greatly with Swift Wind thanks to their love of helping others and singing.
  • Broken Record: Based on the exasperated expressions from the other princesses apparently Shadow Weaver will not shut up about using the Heart of Etheria.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Catra tries to preserve her life by claiming she's the only one who knows how the weapon works. Horde Prime sees through the trick easily, and gets the information he needs out of Glimmer instead. He mocks Catra for letting her emotions get the better of her, but says she still has a place.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends as Adora collapses on the ground.
  • Continuity Nod: Adora leads the Rebel forces to a hidden part of the Whispering Woods which was once where Madame Razz taught Mara about Etheria's magic.
  • Dirty Coward: Horde Prime finds out about Catra's treachery after pulling up Hordak's memories, and summons her to decide her sentence. Out of fear of her life, she reminds him again that she's the only one around the emperor who knows anything about how the weapon works, and she declares her loyalty to him. It backfires on Catra horribly, because what Glimmer told him under duress was all he needed to know, and he puts Catra on the spot. However, he has other plans for Catra, and she's going to find out soon enough.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Adora charging after a group of clones was rather reckless, but her plan to capture one to find information about HP's whereabouts is rightfully smart, which Bow admits when she actually tells him her plan.
  • Evolving Credits: For season 5, the villain's shot has Catra in front surrounded by Horde clones and a subjugated Hordak next to Horde Prime who is in the center. The hero's shot has Adora as herself, as she can no longer turn into She-Ra.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Horde Prime gives Glimmer a decent room, respectfully calls her "Your Majesty," and gives her an expensive feast... but she's only alive because he needs her for the weapon, and she knows it. Same with his treatment of Catra; he calls her "little sister," but considering how he treats his "brothers," it comes off as a threat.
  • A God Am I: Horde Prime boasts that he "sees all and knows all," and his clones have a long list of titles for him.
  • Heroic RRoD: As a result of constantly throwing herself into fights with the Horde's army, as well as no longer being able to transform into She-Ra, Adora's physical exhaustion causes her visions to become so intense that they give her a headache and cause her to collapse at the end of the episode.
  • Implied Death Threat: Horde Prime offers Glimmer food from a planet quite like Etheria. Then he casually mentions that the food is rare, since he destroyed the planet.
  • I've Come Too Far: The main reason Catra tries to make a deal with Horde Prime. By this point, Catra has lost everything she has come to gain and every person she ever befriended. She joins Horde Prime not because she "likes" him, but out of necessity and for her own survival.
  • Just Toying with Them: The clone that Bow, Scorpia, and Adora capture and interrogate implies that Prime knew about their camp's location, but deliberately left it alone until they ambushed said clone.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: After destroying She-Ra's sword, Adora has become a lot more reckless and willing to impulsively throw herself at armies of the Horde's clones and drones, at one point even trying to transform into She-Ra before remembering that she can't. It doesn't last long, thankfully.
  • Manipulative Editing: Horde Prime shows Catra and Glimmer footage of Adora being attacked, then cuts it off when the bots have her at his mercy, leaving the implication that it's happening in real-time or that she was captured. After Glimmer capitulates, it's revealed that Adora was rescued immediately after that cut and is still free.
  • My Sensors Indicate You Want to Tap That: Horde Prime cites Catra's dilated pupils and elevated heart rate when Adora is mentioned as a counter to Catra's denials that Adora means something to her.
  • Oh, Crap!: Catra, when Horde Prime startles her by addressing her by name, and when he reveals that he knows about her treachery.
  • Over-the-Shoulder Carry: After stinging Adora knocking her out to prevent her from charging charging three Horde Clones, Adora awakens being carried by Sorpia over her shoulder while retreating.
  • Percussive Prevention: The means are chemical rather than kinetic, but one moment Adora is charging three Horde Clones with minimal planning and the next she is regaining consciousness being carried off by Scorpia as she is simultaneously retreating, apologizing for stinging her, and warning her that she'd do the latter again if she had to.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Adora's plan to interrogate a clone was a decent one, but she just decides to attack a clone patrol a la Leeroy Jenkins without telling anyone first.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Glimmer points out that while Catra may be on Horde Prime's side, she's still alone and it's only a matter of time before she's disposed of.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Catra becomes agitated when Horde Prime threatens Adora in order to get information out of Glimmer, but vehemently denies his assertion that Adora means something to her. Horde Prime doesn't buy it and mockingly points out that her dilated pupils and elevated heart rate say otherwise, stating that she's lying to herself.
  • So Last Season: The methods Catra used in previous seasons to keep herself in Hordak's employ are worthless against Horde Prime, who sees right through her and quickly manipulates Glimmer into giving away Catra's only leverage. Horde Prime makes it clear she survives because of his grace and nothing more.
  • Terms of Endangerment: After Catra pledges loyalty to Horde Prime, he calls her "little sister". Catra saw Horde Prime Mind Rape his "little brother", so she's rightfully horrified.
  • Time Skip: It's not made clear exactly how much time has passed between seasons, but it's enough that the Galactic Horde has made their presence known on Etheria and the Rebellion has had to abandon Bright Moon.

Dinner With Horde Prime

The BigBad of the show, Horde Prime, has the Big Good invited over to dinner, where he shows off just how affable he is, casually threatening her homeworld at every chance he gets in an attempt to break her.
