Jennifer has to stop Titania from using her superhero name to hawk beauty products. Meanwhile, Nikki tries to get Jennifer some new clothes.

Tropes:

  • Amazon Chaser:
    • One of She-Hulk's dates, the one who was rude to the waiter, hits on and tries to seek a relationship with Titania after she loses the case and is leaving the courtroom.
    • The one-night-stand from the previous episode notes he loves She-Hulk's body but is wholly uninterested in Jen's normal form.
  • Ambiguous Situation: So how does Pug have sneakers themed after Marvel characters who haven't appeared in the MCU yet? Is this just a non-canon gag, or have they already made their debuts offscreen and we just haven't heard it yet? Episode 2 did mention a "man with metal claws"...
  • Assumed Win: As the judge starts announcing her verdict for Titania's trademark case against She-Hulk, Titania wears a triumphant smile, and she loses the smile upon hearing she isn't getting her way.
  • Bait-and-Switch Comment: When Pug explains that he wants to bring Nikki along to get a second pair of shoes for his collection:
Nikki: You're going to buy a pair of shoes that you're not even going to wear? (Beat)... I can respect that.
  • Bavarian Fire Drill: Nikki and Jen are able to cut to the front of the line to meet Titania by simply "walking with confidence."
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall:
    • Jen looks directly at the camera and reassures the viewer that she doesn't care for the name She-Hulk.
    • When Mallory makes a comment about how she thought Jen was going to improve her wardrobe, which causes Jen to turn to the camera and say "Oh yeah, my clothes!".
  • Brick Joke: Two in the end credits:
    • Pug is showing off the Iron Man 3 sneakers he was looking for along with his entire collection, with Nikki looking on.
    • Holliway is examining his butt in his office after having drunk several bottles of Titania's "She-Hulk Booty Boost". There is one person walking past pretending he isn't seeing his boss do this.
  • Challenge Seeker: The superhero fashion designer is completely uninterested in making a business suit that Jen can wear to court, thinking it below his abilities for designing costumes to withstand the rigors of combat. Then he's told that it needs to be able to fit both Jen's normal form and her She-Hulk form while still looking professional and is shown the severe size disparity between the two. He immediately changes his tune.
  • Couch Gag: The title card changes to reflect Titania's appropriation of the She-Hulk name.
  • Destructo-Nookie: Lampshaded on She-Hulk's dating profile, which says she's looking for a man with a sturdy back and a reinforced bed.
  • Disney Owns This Trope: Titania trademarked the name She-Hulk to use for a line of beauty products, since Jen never bothered trademarking her codename. The main plot of the episode is Jen and Mallory proving that Jen was using She-Hulk publicly before the trademark and Titania is profiting off of Jen's name, thereby invalidating the trademark.
  • Entitled Bastard: As Mallory points out, it really says something that the various guys Jen had dated spent dinner with a woman with actual superpowers and came away thinking that they could do better.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Jen has one when she realizes that she can use the fact that she went on dates using She-Hulk as her dating app profile to prove that she was using the name before Titania trademarked it. Then it turns into dread when she realizes that means all the creepy douches will be giving testimonies.
  • Evil Is Petty:
    • Titania is clearly using She-Hulk's name as revenge for getting beaten by Jen in a fight.
    • During the trial, Titania frequently looks to the side to mock and make digs at Jen.
  • Expy: Luke seems to be based on Edna Mode, being an Eccentric Fashion Designer who creates outfits for superheroes and treats mundane wear as beneath him.
  • Fan Community Nickname: invoked Titania's fans are called Titaniacs.
  • A Fool for a Client: Defied. Jen initially promises Holliway that she'll deal with Titania, but he bluntly shuts that down and has Mallory assigned as her attorney to defend her against Titania's lawsuit, with Mallory directly referencing the saying during their initial meeting. Jen wisely avoids admitting that she would have tried to take care of it herself. Lampshaded with Titania, who tries to speak out on her own behalf several times and has to be told not to by her attorney.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus:
    • One of the quick end credits illustrations is Pug and Nikki in a room full of Marvel-themed shoes. While some are themed after already-established superheroes, like Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel, others are themed around heroes who have yet to appear in the MCU, such as the Thing, Cyclops, and Deadpool.
    • Eugene Patilio (Frog-Man) is seen exiting Luke Jacobson's shop.
  • Friendship Moment: Subverted. Celebrating with a drink after winning their case, Jen calls her and Mallory friends. Mallory makes it quite clear she still doesn't like Jen. She respects her as a lawyer and for what she did to win the case, but they aren't friends.
  • His Name Really Is "Barkeep": Jen says she didn't think to trademark the name "She-Hulk," asking if Doctor Strange or Thor trademarked their "superhero" names. Mallory immediately invokes this trope.
Mallory: You chose two examples of people who use their real names.
  • It's the Principle of the Thing: Holliway insists on sorting out Jen's legal mess with Titania because not tossing out a frivolous lawsuit reflects poorly on the company, regardless of how stupid and petty the lawsuit is.
  • Loves My Alter Ego: Jen's one-night stand from the previous episode confirms that, while he definitely has a thing for She-Hulk, Jennifer isn't his type. She's clearly hurt by this.
  • Merchandising the Monster: Among the sneakers Pug has, you can see ones themed after Electro, Green Goblin, and Doctor Doom. While the first two did terrorize the MCU's New York after being displaced there through wayward magic (though the sneakers are clearly more designed after their appearances in the comics), how people know Doctor Doom's likeness when he's never appeared in the MCU is unknown.
  • Mistaken Nationality: When Nikki tries to explain to the contact for Luke that they're not the cops by saying it in Chinese, only for the guy to reveal he's not Chinese, so he doesn’t understand what she said.
  • My Suit Is Also Super: Luke boasts that he makes superhero clothing that is bulletproof, fireproof, and so on. He only takes on She-Hulk as a client because he sees making clothing that will fit in both Hulk and human forms as a challenge.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • On the miscolored "Avongers" merchandise, Thor has red hair, as he does in the original Norse myths (so a literal Mythology Gag).
    • In the sketch of Pug flaunting his Iron Man 3 sneakers, a plethora of other Marvel-themed shoes can be seen in the background, including ones based on heroes and villains who have yet to appear in the MCU. These include the X-Men (Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, and Deadpool), The Thing, Nova, Doctor Doom, and even Speedball.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Titania's line of sham She-Hulk beauty products seems like a Take That! against Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop products.
  • Punny Name: The boba shop that Pug's drip broker works at is called Café Beau-ba.
  • Snake Oil Salesman: Titania's beauty products are of dubious effectiveness and not FDA-approved, with Jen even pointing out that one product is literally snake oil (or rather, snake venom).
  • Shoddy Knockoff Product: The contact for the superhero clothier sells bootleg Avengers merchandise. The shirts are either "Avongers" or "Avingers", while above them are "Thur" and "Holk" mugs.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Titania mockingly calls Jennifer "Shrek" when the latter first enters the courtroom for the trial.
    • On the drive to work in the morning, Jen listens to Law360's podcast, Pro-Say, which is a real legal news website and podcast.
  • Super Costume Clothier: This episode introduces Luke Jacobson, a fashion designer for super hero costumes who is very picky about his clientele. He was going to refuse to make a business suit for Jen as he doesn't make "basic shit" until Nikki points out Jen is the Hulk's cousin and what a challenge making an outfit that adapt to both Jen's petite 5' 42 frame and She-Hulk's muscular 6' 7" one.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Jen's "Eureka!" Moment turns into this when she realizes that, to win the case, the objectifying creeps she went on dates with will be giving testimonies about her, humiliating her in front of the courtroom.
  • Throat-Slitting Gesture: Titania makes one at Jen at the end of the first hearing.
  • Title Drop: "Mean, green, and straight poured into these jeans" is part of She-Hulk's dating profile.
  • We Will Meet Again: Titania threatens revenge for Jen ruining her scheme to trademark the name "She-Hulk".
  • Wham Shot: After giving She-Hulk her custom suits, Luke boxes up what is clearly a yellow version of Daredevil's distinctive horned helmet.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: After they win the case, Mallory tells Jen that she deserves to be more confident in herself and that she shouldn't let chauvinistic idiots dictate her self-worth.
