“Michiru gave me two tickets to go to see a romantic recital with Mamo-chan! That girl is my idol! Unfortunately a Daimon shows up to ruin this wonderful night! How dare you intrude on this special occasion! I won't allow it. I am Sailor Moon! In the Name of the Moon, I'll punish you!”
Usagi Tsukino

(CWi Episode: "Bad Harmony")

Usagi starts to worry if she's good enough to be Mamoru's girlfriend and future wife. So she decides to ask for pointers from resident lady Michiru in the hopes that some of her greatness can rub off on Usagi.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Amnesiac Hero: Downplayed. Michiru mentions how they're still missing memories from their past lives so she and Haruka will have to wait until they receive them.
  • As You Know: Michiru and Haruka discuss with each other about their mission of finding the Talismans that will lead them to the Holy Grail.
  • Bait-and-Switch: After hearing enough of her friends' insulting her cookies, it looks like Usagi's gonna blow up. Until she turns out super relaxed and at peace.
  • Continuity Nod: Usagi informs Mamoru that she'll need to learn how to enjoy recitals in preparation for when she's future queen.
  • Dope Slap: Rei gives one to Usagi to have her focus on the performance.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: Michiru is still searching for what her life's purpose is. While the viewer is well aware of the tribulations she faces, Usagi believes it's because she's so talented that she wouldn't know what to base her life career on.
  • Dreadful Musician:
    • Usagi tries her hand at playing the viola in public. It's not good...
    • The Daimon Octave isn’t much better.
Amara (Cloverway): Lured by your off-key singing, Sailor Uranus takes the stage.
  • Goal in Life: Discussed. Michiru is at an impasse over what she would want to do with her life in spite of her talents at music and painting.
  • Heartbreak and Ice Cream: After her disastrous public performance, Usagi eats her feelings away through parfaits.
  • Hero Insurance: Discussed. Jupiter accidentally destroys part of the concert hall with Sparkling Wide Pressure after Octave dodges her attack. Mercury warns her that they have to be cautious as there are still people inside the building.
  • I Work Alone: The Outer Guardians make it clear that they have no interest in teaming up with the Inner Guardians.
  • Improvised Training: Michiru has been practicing how to play the violin all while balancing a lemon.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Ami argues that Mamoru wouldn't get sick from Usagi's cookies because they're too burned so Mamoru wouldn't get food poisoning.
  • Insecure Love Interest: The core conflict is Usagi feeling insecure about not being sophisticated or mature enough for Mamoru.
  • Internal Reveal: Neptune reveals that she and Uranus are after the Talismans found in Pure Hearts.
  • Jerkass Ball: Makoto, of all people. Upon hearing that Usagi accidentally burnt her homemade cookies for Mamoru, leading to Usagi wanting her friends for pointers on how to be better at things, she leaves instead of helping Usagi out.
  • Musical Assassin: The violinist's violin transforms into the Classical Daimon, Octave. A giant violin woman who looks like a violin and plays her violin strings to attack the violinist and his violin fans. Violently.
  • Must Make Amends: The girls feel bad for downplaying Usagi's insecurities about being a Proper Lady, so they get dolled up and join Usagi and Mamoru at the recital to support her.
  • The Needs of the Many: Haruka converses with Michiru about how the three people holding Talismans will have to be sacrificed so their Talismans can guide them to the Holy Grail.
  • No Sympathy: The girls express instant concern over Mamoru eating Usagi's burnt cookies. Later, Rei and Luna are quick to shoot down Usagi's newfound plan to become intelligent as they chalk it up as another hare-brained scheme that she'll give up on sooner or later.
  • Ocular Gushers: Usagi cries a waterfall after spilling her burnt cookies on Mamoru's living room.
  • Proper Lady: Michiru is presented as an elegant lady who's skilled in the violin and painting masterpieces. It's because of this that Usagi flocks to her in the hopes of gaining pointers on how to be a better woman.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Makoto and Minako make like trees and leaf after Usagi badgers them for private lessons on baking and world tourism respectively.
  • Super-Scream: Octave's echo scream can render people unconscious. And with the right tone, she can convert her singing into an energy beam.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Uranus directly attacks Octave for trying to hurt Neptune.
