“Chibi-usa, please tell me the truth. Who are you? And where did you really come from? Back off Black Moon Clan! I won't forgive you guys for threatening this young girl! I am Sailor Moon! And In the Name of the Moon, I'll punish you!”
Usagi Tsukino

(DiC Episode: "Naughty 'N' Nice")

Grand revelations are revealed when the Guardians race to find Chibi-usa who ran away from home before she can fall prey to the Spectre Sisters and their sadistic Master Rubeus.

Tropes for this episode include:

  • Ambiguous Situation: The Black Moon Clan did something to Chibi-usa's mother and has been unable to recover for a long period of time.
  • Arson, Murder, and Admiration: Sailor Moon thinks of Chibi-usa as precocious, mischievous, and pretty annoying. And despite all of that...
Sailor Moon: I can't seem to hate her.
  • Autobots, Rock Out!: When the Sailor Guardians have their showdown with the Spectre Sisters, the song "Ai no Senshi" plays in the background. The DiC dub would play the equally epic "She's Got the Power" during the fight.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Usagi and Luna are mortified when they see the bed wet believing that the former was responsible. But it's soon revealed that it was Chibi-usa's doing.
  • Barrier Maiden: The Sailor Guardians of the Future are the last line of defense as they've concentrated their power into maintaining an impenetrable barrier to defend Crystal Tokyo.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Luna and Luna-P show up to protect Chibi-usa from Koan and Berthier.
  • The Cavalry: When it looks like Moon and Chibi-usa are cornered by the four Spectre Sisters, the Inner Guardians show up ready to do battle.
  • Counterpart Combat Coordination: Each Guardian does combat against a Specter Sister who matches them in power/color scheme.
  • Declaration of Protection: Sailor Moon gains the strength to stand up and confront Rubeus.
Sailor Moon: Not yet... I refuse to be defeated this easily... I will protect her... WITH MY LIFE!!
  • Dissonant Serenity: Both Berthier and Koan decide to make a game out of who can kill Chibi-usa first as they calmly approach the terrified little girl.
  • Embarrassing Damp Sheets: Usagi wakes up horrified to find that her bed is wet. She then finds that the true culprit was Chibi-usa who was sharing the same bed.
  • Energy Ball: Rubeus attacks Sailor Moon using purple energy balls of death.
  • Evil Gloating: Rubeus delivers a chilling one after attacking Sailor Moon in the DiC version:
Rubeus: She will as soon as she gives up! Face it! You're no match for the power of the Negamoon! I've seen the future and you're not in it!
  • Face Framed in Shadow: Chibi-usa's mother is covered in a stylistic shadow during her daughter's flashback.
  • Flashback: Chibi-usa remembers a time when she wet the bed at a younger age and was comforted by her mother.
  • Genre Savvy: Luna is fully aware that when Chibi-usa gets upset, she'll unleash a burst of energy making her a target for her enemies.
  • I Was Having Such a Nice Dream: Usagi starts the episode by having a wonderful dream where she was marrying Mamoru and the guests were raining champagne on them. It unfortunately ends with her waking up to discover that her bed is wet.
  • Internal Reveal: Rubeus and the Spectre Sisters formally introduce themselves, the name of their organization, and their motivations to Sailor Moon.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Tuxedo Mask uses an array of roses to counter Rubeus' dark energy attack. It's surprisingly effective.
  • Ironic Echo: When Berthier gets tripped over by Luna-P, Koan teases her with "you're quite the eyesore, sister" (In the Viz Dub, it's "you snooze, you lose"). Then when Koan gets her face scratched by Luna, her older sister taunts her with the same phrase.
  • Laborious Laces: In the dub, Bertie tries to distract Catzi with his, to which the latter counters that she’s wearing pumps.
  • No Sympathy: No one shows mercy to Usagi after the bed wetting incident. Luna initially believed she was responsible and pointed out that a middle schooler like her shouldn't do that. Shingo teases her as if she really did it. And Chibi-usa doesn't even apologize for it.
  • Plot Hole: In the second act, the Inner girls are waiting for Usagi so they can go shopping. Neither they or Usagi have considered using their new communicators to contact each other.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Chibi-usa tries to go back home using her special key. To her distress, it doesn't work.
  • Seers: Wiseman appears before Rubeus to tell him about Chibi-usa unleashing a burst of energy so he can assign the Spectre Sisters to be on the lookout.
  • Tactical Withdrawal: Rubeus orders the Spectre Sisters to retreat after being nearly hit with Moon Princess Halation.
  • Villain Ball: Berthier and Koan take their sweet time approaching Chibi-usa while deciding who among them should kill her. This gives Luna-P and Luna enough time to help Chibi-usa escape their clutches.
  • Wham Episode: The Guardians become informed about the Black Moon Clan while the audience learns the true identity of Chibi-usa's mother.
  • Wham Shot:
    • Wiseman explains that four guardians are maintaining the barrier that protects Crystal Tokyo. It's shown to be the same Inner Guardians we know and love.
    • The last scene has Wiseman pull up a hologram of the future queen, and Chibi-usa's mother, who's revealed to be Usagi Tsukino.
  • You Are Not Alone: "Puu" reminds Chibi-usa that she's never alone and she'll always be in the company of Guardians who will protect her from the forces of evil.
