Mario's all alone...
A hungover Mario wakes up to find no one left in the Mushroom Kingdom. As he struggles to cope with his friends' disappearances, he quickly loses his mind and engages in a... surreal adventure.
Episode tropes:
- Animation Bump: Not for the first or last time in this series, a mental breakdown (Mario's) is accompanied by much smoother than average animation, in this case the lip-flaps when Mario screams, "I can't-a believe my f*cking eyes!!!"
- The Bus Came Back: X, FM, Toad, Peach, Shroomy, JubJub, Rob, Belle, Whimpu, Waluigi, SMG1, and SMG2 are among the people who were trying to break the world record for creating a giant pizza. All of them cameoed or featured in "The Meme Games 2022" two weeks earlier, but some had not had focus episodes in years.
- Call-Back:
- Mario's ability to use any flat object as a self-propelled board was first shown in Meggy's Destiny.
- Once again, Meggy proves herself to be a Lethal Chef without trying – she burned the sausage.
- Cope by Pretending: Upon realizing that the Mushroom Kingdom is deserted, Mario's eventual response is to enter a department store and dress up three mannequins as the people he's closest to – SMG4, Luigi, and Meggy. He even admits before and (especially) after that it's silly.Mario: "Mario will make some friends to play with!" (voice clip: "I'm-a t'ink I'll go coo-coo crazy!")
- Drunk on Milk: Mario, literally. We see him holding a half-gallon carton of milk when he bursts into the castle kitchen clearly inebriated and ruins the gang's first record attempt. This is why they all leave him when they try it again.
- "Everyone Is Gone" Episode: Everyone but Mario disappears, which later turns out to be an attempt to set a world record without his interference.
- Funny Background Event: We get a brief shot of Peach's bedroom. On her desk, underneath a poor-quality fanart of herself, is a document labelled "Mario Adoption Papers" with a stack of paperwork and an unsigned certificate, suggesting she's trying to find a way to legally get rid of him for good.
- Ghost City: Mushroom City is like this when Mario is all alone.
- Go Mad from the Isolation: Mario goes insane from the apparent disappearance of his friends.
- Hand Puppet: Mario uses mannequins to create replicas of Luigi, Meggy, and SMG4 to praise him. Most of the dialogue he gives them is catchphrases.Luigi-quin: "Wahoo! I'm-a gay."
Meggy-quin: "Woomy."
SMG4-quin: "I like-a memes." - Kick the Dog: While Mario admittedly did ruin everyone's chance at a world record, it was completely on accident as he was currently insane due to everyone isolating themselves from him and he was desperately trying to find them.
- Mass "Oh, Crap!": The entire convention stare in horror and panic when Mario's about to land in their giant pizza they made for a world record.
- "Oh, Crap!" Smile: Mario in the ad skit, when Saiko catches him playing her guitar in her apartment without her permission.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
- Tari is among the angry mob who attack Mario in the ending.
- This is one of the only episodes where Mario's trademark (for this show) Fish Eyes are NOT Played for Laughs. The difference is shown by a visual distinction – here, his sclerae are noticeably bloodshot.
- Pet the Dog: While Tari is one of the cast who attack Mario, Meggy is not, according to the editor who composed the final scene – while it's difficult to tell due to the angle, she's holding JubJub back. Additionally, Luigi openly says he feels guilty for leaving Mario in the dark (he's rebuked by SMG4). Meggy's expression and tone in her apology to Luigi strongly imply she agrees, but still sides with SMG4.
- Riddle for the Ages: Not only is the "clown fever" from the last episode apparently gone, but Depresso is with the SMG4 gang with no hard feelings in spite of his contribution to the problem (and potential insanity).
- Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: The reason everyone abandoned Mario is because of his destructive tendencies threatening their record. As a result of the insanity brought on by said abandonment, Mario inadvertently ends up ruining the giant pizza anyway.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: Poor Mario. It turns out the reason why his friends were gone is because they’re in the giant pizza party. Later, after promising the user to be good and be with his friends again, he ended up ruining their day again when he reached them because he was still insane from the isolation and as a result ended up getting attacked by almost everyone he knows.
- Take That!: Said word-for-word by Mario when he dumps hundreds of volumes of Mario fanfiction into a burning mound. Subverted later when Mario becomes so bored he sits in the flaming pile to read one of them.
- This Is Gonna Suck: When Bob sees a naked insane Mario about to fall in the pizza, he lets off a deadpan "Ah, piss.
- Writers Cannot Do Math: Partway through the episode, the tiktok video Mario watches (which had just been uploaded at the start) says "Uploaded 2 Weeks Ago", yet the flashback shortly after that is said to have taken place "the previous day". So… how long was Mario actually alone?note
