Remember the Cook's Assistant quest? The incredibly easy beginner quest where you help the Lumbridge cook find ingredients to bake a cake for Duke Horacio's birthday? It's a bit more than that, it turns out. The cook doesn't even know when the duke's birthday is, but he wanted to test you to see if he could trust you with taking this task on. See, a long time ago, the cook's ancestor, Frazzinard Van Lumbcook, secured a position for himself and all of his descendants by cooking an amazing banquet for a council meeting that's coming up, and the cook wants to recreate his ancestor's recipes.
After you help him find ingredients, you attend the banquet and witness the surprise appearance of the Culinaromancer, who attacks the council members before being frozen in time by Gypsy Aris (who was late). He had been sealed away by Frazzinard using culinaromancy, but in re-creating the recipe used to do so you and the current Cook broke the spell.
Oops. At least you now have all the time in the world to prepare for the final confrontation.
