- Big "NO!": A young Benson gives this after failing the final question in Say That Word.
- Continuity Cavalcade: Rigby's second go at "Expert or Liar" consists of 10 references to previous video games played in previous episodes.
- Epic Fail: Rigby thinking that violets are red.
- Everyone Has Standards: Benson dislikes Rigby's antics, but he understands what it's like to be humiliated on public TV as he went through something similar in the past and wouldn't wish that on anyone. It's for this reason that he helps Rigby get back his dignity.
- Mark of Shame: A young Benson lost in Say That Word by saying "banana" instead of "bandana" and then the female assistant puts a blue bandana that reads "Loser" to him losing his hair in process.
- Once Done, Never Forgotten: Benson went on a game show where he just had to read the word on the screen, but loses by saying "banana" instead of "bandana". He says people would come up to him with bananas after that, and when he stands up for Rigby on the next episode of "Expert or Liar", someone throws a banana at him.
- Pet the Dog: Rather than being mad at Rigby like he usually does, Benson offers to help him regain his dignity because he too had been humiliated on television, and wouldn't wish the same to anyone.
- Prematurely Bald: A young Benson spontaneously loses all of his hair after humiliating himself on a game show.
