No, that vane isn't a turkey.
Written by: Rachel Lipman

Sean planned a Space Scouts sleepover under the stars, but the weather seems to have thrown a monkey wrench into those plans. Mitchell aids Team Propulsion in setting up a weather observation station, to truly determine if it will rain.

  • Airplane Arms: Jet makes these arms when he suggests going to space to study clouds.
  • Are You Pondering What I'm Pondering?: Sean wishes there was a way to learn about rain clouds up close. Jet asks him if he's thinking what he's thinking. Sean says "Go to the DSA", and Jet says "go to outer space".
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: After it is discovered that it will indeed rain on the night of the Space Scouts' sleepout.
Mitchell: Bad news for Sean's sleepout, but great news for plants and flowers, and umbrella salespeople!
  • Bait-and-Switch: After Jet assures Sean that things won't be totally ruined, thunder is heard...but it's actually Sunspot banging two trash can lids together.
  • Binocular Shot: Mitchell's appearance is marked by him viewing Floyd through his binoculars, and then panning it to see Sean, Sydney, and Mindy.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Sean has a chart for every possible situation he could end up in, except for the rain.
  • Foreshadowing: After Mitchell dismisses that dogs can predict the rain by smelling the air, Cody sniffs. Guess what happens later on?
  • Hidden Depths:
    • It's revealed that Mitchell is a weather expert, something he picked up from his unseen grandfather, who is a farmer.
    • Bergs and Skelley were part of Space Scouts when they were young.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: "I wasn't sure weather or not you were looking for me!", courtesy of Face 9000. No one is amused by it except for Jet.
  • Instant Costume Change: For most of the episode, Sean wears his Space Scouts uniform, but when he enters the DSA, he's suddenly in his usual outfit.
  • The Nose Knows: Mitchell says that his grandpa claims that dogs can tell that rain is coming by smelling the air, but Mitchell thinks that's not true. After that, Cody sniffs a bit. Sure enough, it did rain.
  • Rain, Rain, Go Away: Sean plans a sleepout under the stars for his space scout troop, but the rain ruins his plans.
  • Running Gag: Jet mistaking the rooster-shaped weather vane for a turkey.
  • Scout-Out: Sean is a part of a scout troop called Space Scouts, as shown in this very episode. Their business isn't selling cookies or popcorn though; their business is learning about science.
  • Series Continuity Error: Mindy learns about the constellation Leo the Lion in this episode, but she previously learned about it in "Constellation Prize".
  • Ship Tease: Jet is in awe at Sean's Space Scouts uniform. We then get closeups from Jet's perspective of Sean's feet, chest, back, and hat, and tells Sean it's a nice outfit. Later, Jet puts Sean on his shoulders while riding a unicycle.
  • Stock Audio Clip: When Sean arrives on the scene, he says "Hey guys", which is recycled from William Ainscough's stint voicing him....and then he proceeds to be voiced by Grady Ainscough. It's rather jarring if you have a good ear.
  • Tempting Fate: Sean is ready for the sleepout. Immediately after, Mindy points out that it's cloudy.

Total Eclipse Block Party

When the light goes away, at the height of the day, it's a total eclipse of the sun!
Written by: Craig Bartlett

Since a solar eclipse is approaching, Jet comes up with a rocking song and dance routine to perform at the block party. Meanwhile, Sunspot tries to educate the neighborhood animals on eclipses.

  • Continuity Nod: Sean and Sydney initially won't let Jet perform on the DSA stage for fear that he will sing and use his Bortronian robot arms, which is a reference to the events of "My Fair Jet".
  • Cool Shades: Mindy helps pass out eclipse-viewing sunglasses.
  • Face Palm: When Jet is given permission to perform a song at the block party, he tells the others that they have one hour to get it ready. Sean and Sydney facepalm, lampshading that it's actually a short amount of time to prepare it.
  • Imagine Spot: At the start of the episode, Jet, Mindy, and Sunspot imagine that they're the moon, earth, and sun respectively. This is done to teach Mindy about solar eclipses.
  • Irony: Sunspot spends a large chunk of the episode trying to prevent the Earth animals from falling asleep. At the end of the episode, he himself falls asleep and the other animals are wide awake.
  • Knuckle Cracking: Sunspot is the composer for the gang's song. He cracks his knuckles before banging on the piano.
  • Only Sane Man: Sunspot is the only animal who knows that it's not night when there's an eclipse.
  • Say My Name: Everyone yells "SUNSPOT!" after they discover that he stole the eclipse countdown clock.
  • Speak in Unison:
    • Dr. Rafferty and Dr. Bergs: "Uh....no."
    • Everyone: "It's a total eclipse of the sun!"
    • Everyone: "It's day again! Welcome back, sun!"
  • Spectacular Spinning: Mindy has fun spinning when pretending to be the Earth.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: The main plot is the kids making a song about solar eclipse to perform at the block party. Sunspot hadshis own sub-plot involving him trying to teach the Earth animals about eclipses so they won't sleep during the eclipse.
