A Hammer and a Feather
The kids learn how, on the moon, a hammer and a feather can drop at the same time due to the lack of atmosphere.- Character Development: Sean is excited to go to space, since he loves doing gravity experiments. Compare this to the first episode of the show, where he was the typical Nervous Wreck, and you'll see massive character growth.
- Desperate Object Catch: Jet gets a bit carried away with a gravity experiment and thoughtlessly tosses Sean's telescope off the treehouse balcony. Sunspot dives underneath it and puffs up his belly like a balloon, so the telescope bounces back up again where Sean can reach over the balcony and grab it safely.
- Historical Figures in Archival Media: They showed a video of David Scott dropping a hammer and a feather on the moon at the same time.
- Inflating Body Gag: Sunspot inflates his body like a balloon to rescue Sean's telescope.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Sean actually wanting to go to space is met with concern and shock.

Commander Mom
The gang goes to meet Sydney's mom, Dr. Skelley, a robotics engineer.- All There in the Script: The official PBS description for this episode says that Dr. Skelley's first name is Amy, but this isn't said in the episode.
- Book Ends: The season one premiere starts in Jet's backyard and this episode, the season one finale, ends in Jet's backyard.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: Dr. Skelley lampshades how this episode is her first appearance.Dr. Skelley: Well, it's about time you all came to see me, after all those times you've been by to see Sean's mom in the other building.
- Continuity Cavalcade: Clips from "Total Eclipse of the Sunspot," "Diggin' Earth," "Jet 2," and "Earthday Birthday" are briefly shown in this episode, to show the different things Jet 2 has been made into.
- Cosplay: Sydney wears a Commander Cressida costume for the entirety of the episode.
- Do-Anything Robot: Dr. Skelley rebuilds Jet 2 into Jet 3, who can do a large variety of tasks at once, such as massage Sunspot's ears, play soccer, and make coffee.
- Gadgeteer Genius: Dr. Skelley knows all about robotics, engineering, and technology. She also holds a strong belief that robots are the future, and teaches the kids about the types of jobs robots have, like helping out at a grocery store, rescuing trapped animals during a flood, collecting comet dust samples, and exploring volcanoes on Mars. She even rebuilds Jet's robot clone, Jet 2, at the end of the episode and makes him into a Do-Anything Robot. Now that is awesome.
- Hypocrite: Jet orders Sunspot to get a glass of water for him, but then is taken aback when Sunspot wants Jet to get water for him'.Jet: Really? After all I do for him?
- Imagine Spot: Sydney imagines herself as Commander Cressida, fighting the spider robot squad, and then gets interrupted by Jet and Sean arriving on the scene.
- Long List: Jet has an extremely long list of things he wants to invent, including attaching a telescope to his helmet so he can watch himself in space, magnetic gloves, a pillow made of pizza, jet-pack pants, a double-decker hover scooter, and a taco machine for the saucer.
- Mid-Season Upgrade: While this episode is the season one finale, Jet 2 is upgraded to Jet 3.
- Robotic Reveal: Subverted. Dr. Skelley tells Jet that he and the others already know two robots (Beep and Boop). Jet guesses that the Petersons are robots. However, the Petersons themselves don't appear in this episode, and (
as far as we know) are not robots. - You, Get Me Coffee: There's a Running Gag that involves Jet ordering Sunspot to get him a glass of water, instead of actually helping him with his project.
