The prince went to great lengths to find this maiden, which he did, and took her as his wife.

Sour Outside, Sad Inside: From where Ahiru stands, Fakir is normally abrasive and cold towards her. But later as a duck, she witnesses that he's tearfully burdened with the task of protecting Mytho.
What You Are in the Dark: When it comes to other people, Fakir will act cold-hearted and thick-skinned and generally frightening, especially towards Ahiru. When it's just him and an ordinary duck, he's kind-hearted and even befriends her.
