  • Anvil on Head: Trapsaw set up an example of a trap to show the audience, which would've resulted in an anvil falling on Cosmo once he stepped on the big red X. However, Trapsaw didn't measure things properly, so the anvil falls next to the red X (i.e. exactly where he was standing).
  • Behemoth Battle: Ninja Steel Megazord vs. Trapsaw.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: Preston when finally standing up to his father and refusing to step aside.
  • Defeat Equals Explosion: Befalls Trapsaw twice.
  • Disappointed in You: Marcus over Preston being with the ever-growing protest.
  • False Reassurance: During their fight, Ripcon concedes that Brody has definitely gotten stronger, but then he adds "Not strong enough" before unleashing a devastating attack.
  • Foreshadowing: Levi is insistent that a particular building used to be a restaurant the last time he was in town. Sarah suggests his memory is on the fritz. Two episodes later, we learn why he has memory issues.
  • Heel Realization: Marcus, upon reading the ribbon that his wife had made. He cancels his project and turns the land into an official park so that no one else will be able to harm the tree anytime soon.
  • Hi, Mom!: Trapsaw does this after being introduced to the audience by Cosmo.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Trapsaw's Anvil on Head and boulder traps backfire on him.
  • Hope Spot: Brody hits Ripcon with multiple arrows, causing a big explosion. Then Ripcon gets back up and returns fire.
  • It's Personal:
    • The Rangers simply see keeping the tree up as a general service to the community. Their protest, however, is interfering with Marcus's company and making it look bad, which he takes very personally because his late wife helped him build it up. He's insistent on crushing this protest both for business reasons and as a matter of pride.
    • After Trapsaw's attempt to get Brody fails miserably, Ripcon orders him to go get the others. He then says he'll be settling the score with Brody once and for all. Brody doesn't mind the chance to get into it with his longtime tormenter.
  • Make My Monster Grow: Trapsaw is gigantified by Cosmo.
  • Missing Mom: Preston's mother, Ellen, is alluded to have passed on at some point.
  • Monster of the Week: Trapsaw
  • Morality Chain: Preston observes his mother was the only one that could ever get his father to listen to reason.
  • Morality Chain Beyond the Grave: What ultimately convinces Marcus to back off is coming across a ribbon that was put there by his wife in honor of their son's birth.
  • Never Say "Die": Preston's mother isn't outright said to be dead, with terms like "lost" and "not around to see this" being used instead.
  • Oh, Crap!: Preston, upon realizing his father is the official overseeing the attempt to chop down the ribbon tree.
  • Professional Butt-Kisser: Victor and Monty get jobs as interns working for Preston's father. They do whatever they can think of to look good, including mimicking his movements and agreeing with anything he says. They naturally get fired in the end.
  • Protest by Obstruction: Most of the group protest the attempt to get rid of the tree by simply refusing to step out of the way. Calvin and Hayley do them one better by climbing up the tree and refusing to come down, giving the others time to spread the word.
  • The Scapegoat: Ripcon had vouched for Trapsaw, so the guy's constant bungling puts him on the hook for any screw-ups. When Trapsaw is later destroyed, Odious is only too happy to play this up for her own benefit.
  • Skyward Scream: Ripcon over Brody slipping through his fingers.
  • So Proud of You: In the end, Marcus for Preston saving both him and the tree from Trapsaw. After establishing the park, Marcus says that Ellen would be proud of him, too.
  • Tactical Withdrawal: With Ripcon too much to handle alone, Brody takes the first opportunity to retreat and regroup with the others.
  • Tempting Fate: Fresh off being fired, Victor tells Monty that at least nothing else can go wrong. They immediately fall victim to Trapsaw's final trap.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Trapsaw's first example of a trap ends up causing an anvil to fall on him. His irritated reaction demonstrates this kind of thing happens a lot.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Brody admits he did this when accepting Ripcon's challenge to fight. He resolves to train even harder to beat him next time.
  • Visual Pun: The show's Official Couple is literally (as the old Spelling Song goes) sitting in a tree.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Preston's eager to keep his father happy causes him to fold on the protest almost immediately. He is torn by fulfilling his father's request to help end the protest and being loyal to his friends.
  • Wham Line: At the very end of the episode, as most of the group leaves the park, Brody is approached by someone who knows his name.
    Brody: Do I know you?
Man: Do you know me? I'm Aiden, your brother.
  • You Fool!: Ripcon over Trapsaw getting hurt by his own traps.
