Recap / Power Rangers Beast Morphers Episode 9 Silver Sacrifice

Go To

When General Burke orders Steel to be shut down to prevent him from being used by Evox, the Rangers disobey orders and set out to destroy the Cybergate once and for all.

Episode Tropes:

  • All for Nothing:
    • All the lengthy paperwork gets filled out, only to be accidentally shredded. Betty and Ben manage to piece one page together, but their father opts to just forgo procedure (and save time) by just giving the refueling order now.
    • The cyber-villains capture of Steel proved to be nothing but pure meaninglessness due to the fact that Steel inherits Nate's DNA within his systems.
  • Berserk Button: Steel gets irritated being referred to as a robot since he does have human DNA.
  • Didn't See That Coming:
    • Roxy's reaction to Steel surrendering himself.
    • Steel's human DNA preventing Evox from taking him over.
  • Every Body Laughs Ending: The episode ends with everybody laughing at Steel's Literal-Minded moment mentioned below.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Steel hands himself over to Blaze and Roxy in exchange for the return of Ben and Betty. The "sacrifice" part is averted, only because Steel's human DNA makes him immune to Evox's possession.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: General Burke is obnoxious about it, but he's right that Steel provides a way for Evox to enter the world. He's also right to berate them for going behind his back to disobey a direct order.
  • Literal-Minded: Steel, a lot, such as when General Burke observes they have two new Rangers to give the city a hand.
Steel: [removing a hand] I'm happy to lend a hand any time you like, but I'll need it back later.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: General Burke realizes just how wrong he was about Steel when the latter gives himself up to save Ben and Betty.
  • Sadistic Choice: Told to hand over Steel, General Burke is torn between the safety of his kids and the safety of the world.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!:
    • The Rangers defy General Burke's orders to shut down Steel and go off on their own to destroy the Cybergate.
    • Burke himself does this by disregarding the paperwork he wanted Nate to sign, and gave the order to fuel up the new Zords. Of course part of it was because his children accidentally shredded said paperwork, and trying to piece it together was taking too long.
  • This Cannot Be!: Evox's reaction when he discovers he can't possess Steel due to Steel's human DNA.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Played with. Steel doesn't attract that much attention from the public, though one random passerby does remark, "Nice robot."
  • Vast Bureaucracy: General Burke has a mountain of paperwork for Nate to fill out to get authorization to use Morph-X on his and Steel's Zords. Ben and Betty happily take care of it, and accidentally shred the pages.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: The general reaction to General Burke deriding Nate for considering Steel his brother. Betty in particular looks at him with such disappointment.
