Ash is eagerly awaiting the day when his newly acquired Pokémon egg will hatch. One night at the Pokémon Center, Team Rocket sneaks in planning to steal it, but before they can get their hands on it, they start arguing and accidentally wake up Togepi, who uses Metronome and causes the egg to teleport outside without anyone knowing. Confused, Team Rocket leaves to find it. When Ash wakes up the next morning, he realizes his egg is gone, much to his horror. Officer Jenny arrives on the scene to help out, claiming to be the famous Detective Jenny, and resolves to help Ash find his egg, but her quirks and eccentric attitude prove to be a hindrance to the investigation.

- Cloudcuckoolander: Officer Jenny comes up with some pretty outlandish theories as to what happened to Ash's egg. There's even a brief moment where she thinks Ash is the culprit despite it being his egg.
- Mundane Utility: Officer Jenny's Jumpluff uses its spores to dust for fingerprints and footprints.
- The Nose Knows: When Ash tells Kangaskhan that the egg it has is his, Kangaskhan sniffs the egg and Ash, checking if they match to confirm his story. Once this is confirmed, it happily hands over Ash's egg.
