Japanese Title: Pokémon Champion! The Battle of Big Eaters!!

Original Airdate: November 27, 2020

US Airdate: March 5, 2021

Ash and Goh participate in a eating contest. Or rather, their Pokémon do.

  • Achievements in Ignorance: The Muk trainer ends up saved from his partner eating Team Rocket's bloating cookies due to said Muk not liking sweets.
  • Awesome by Analysis: Goh is in top form; in the second round, he specifically has the dish he and his opponent's Muk eat to be a Pecha tart because he noticed that the opponent refused Team Rocket's cookies — not because he sensed something wrong, since those who ate them became bloated — but because Muk dislikes sweet things. Goh decides to have Skwovet keep a Tamato Berry — known to be very spicy — to help reset its taste buds to help it continue eating.
  • Balloon Belly: All over the place, which isn't surprising for an eating contest. At one point, it's weaponized by Team Rocket, who feed some of the Pokémon snacks that expand in their bellies, knocking them out of the contest.
  • Big Eater: The focus on the episode is Trainers entering their Pokémon to a eating contest. Ironically, Ash's Dragonite, despite her size, is actually a light eater.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Goh has two contingency plans to help Skowvet stay in the game. First, when Skowvet is full of seeds, Goh has them spit them out with Bullet Seed. Second, he had Skowvet keep a Tamato Berry to help change its taste buds — and also because ths spice of said berry presumably helped his metabolism burn everything it currently ate prior — so that Skwovet could continue eating.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Goh's Skwovet. Chrysa also has a larger part in this episode as Miss Exposition.
  • Epic Fail: Twice, by two different contestants.
    • One Trainer tries using a Hydreigon since it has three heads...but as Meowth notes, it still has one stomach and just filled up faster.
    • James' opponent has Glalie use Freeze Dry to cool down his soup...but because the rules state that you can't continue to the next dish until your current one is finished, it's stuck eating a large chunk of ice.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Emperor Blaziken may love to eat, but once it sees the desserts are rice dumplings/spongecakes in the shape of Torchic, it wraps up the cakes and heads off, forfeitng the match.
  • Hoist by Their Own Petard: Team Rocket rigged the eating contest for their own benefit but ended up losing when Morpeko decides to go back to Full Belly Mode at an inopportune time.
  • Not So Stoic: Usually the most calm and collected of Professor Cerise's assistants, Chrysa is pretty much fangirling throughout the contest.
  • Overly Long Gag: Blaziken seeing that the rice dumplings/spongecakes resemble Torchic.
  • Real Men Hate Sugar: One contestant's Muk doesn't eat Team Rocket's cookies, not because they would make anyone who ate them bloated, but because they don't like sweet foods. However, this is subverted when the Muk has been trained to devour anything sweet, except in comparison to Goh having his Skwovet switch tastes via a Tamato berry, he gets full instantly.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: The champion Blaziken decides to forgo the match after the final dish are rice dumplings (spongecakes in the English dub)...in the shape of its pre-evolved form Torchic.
  • Uncatty Resemblance: Aside from Goh and James, the contestants and their Pokémon resemble each other.
