The reality of the fellowship coming to an end finally hits Chespin.
The long goodbye to Kalos continues with one more Performance battle, farewells to friends and rivals, and Serena's decision on where her own Pokémon journey will lead.
This episode contains examples of the following tropes:
- Bookends: Ash and Serena battle on the very same battlefield in a park where Ash first met and battled Clemont.
- Go-Karting with Bowser: Team Rocket ponder whether to sneak off with Pikachu during Serena's performance. Jessie and Gourgeist however become starstruck and take to the stage themselves under their showcase aliases.
- Inelegant Blubbering: When Serena announces her plans to Clemont and Bonnie, Chespin starts sobbing like a baby.
- Love Triangle: At long last, Miette finally defies this, telling Serena that her flirting with Ash was so that she could trigger Serena to express her feelings to him.
- Put on a Bus: This is the final in-series appearances of Tierno, Trevor, Sawyer, and Shauna.
