Japanese Title: Satoshi Gekkouga VS Mega Yukinooh! Unleash the Giant Water Shuriken!!

Original Airdate: June 2, 2016

US Airdate: September 3, 2016

The time has come for Ash to again challenge Wulfric at Snowbelle Gym. Can the perfected Ash-Greninja finally break the ice with Mega Abomasnow?

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • He's Back!: Serena has been in a Broken Pedestal with Ash as she was unsure if he had his confidence back but still showed her support for him. After winning the battle for his last badge, Serena sees that Ash is back with confidence and all.
  • I Am Not Left-Handed: Wulfric switches strategies for the rematch, starting with Bergmite instead of Abomasnow. This works out in Ash's favor, at first, since Avalugg's hailstorm healing is absent. Then Wulfric reveals that he can Mega Evolve his Abomasnow. That didn't matter against the fully-realized Ash-Greninja, however.
  • Improbable Use of a Weapon: Mega Abomasnow freezes Ash-Greninja's Cut kunai in his hands, but Ash then tells Ash-Greninja to use them as ice skates.
  • Moment Killer: Ash and Wulfric are all fired up to begin their rematch, until the gym referee shows up and reminds them that he still has to outline the rules to them. Wulfric, however, tells him to shut up so they can get the battle started.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: The finale of Ash-Greninja vs. Mega Abomasnow is a heroic version, where the latter was pummeled repeatedly with super-effective Aerial Aces until it was finally knocked out.
  • Took a Level in Badass: For the first time, Ash and Greninja consciously control what becomes known as the Bond Phenomenon.
  • The Worf Effect: Avalugg, who singlehandedly trashed Ash's team in the first battle is beaten down by Talonflame without a problem. Likewise, Mega Abomasnow is taken down fairly easily.
