All Animals Are Dogs: Tyrunt only endears Bonnie further by acting like a happy puppy, rolling around and enjoying being nussled. Even as a Tyrantrum it remains as playful.
All Up to You: When Bonnie is kidnapped with Tyrunt, she is left to help it escape, even using Clemont's Pokemon strategically.
Curbstomp Battle: Bonnie's team vs Team Rocket. Round 1 in Bonnie's favour, Round 2 in the trio's.
Gentle Giant: Tyrantrum is huge, but it retains its affection for Bonnie from back when it was still a Tyrunt.
Not-So-Harmless Villain: The episode starts off with Bonnie giving Team Rocket their usual comical runaround, though as things continue, the trio get more frustrated and vicious, delivering Bunnelby and Dedenne a Curbstomp Battle and nearly throwing Bonnie to her death. Even when the rest of the twerps intervene, they angrily attack them with their grabber device before they can call out any of their Pokemon. Only Tryunt evolving into Tyrantrum stops them.
Took a Level in Jerkass: The climax has Team Rocket at their most vile yet, to the point where they were outright willing to murder Bonnie to get Tyrunt.
Yank the Dog's Chain: Bonnie thinks she has found another Pokemon to tagalong with her, but when Clemont throws a Pokeball, it fails. It is then revealed Tyrantrum belongs to the fossil researchers, leading to a tearful parting of ways.
