Pikachu is not ready to trust Meowth.
Another battle results in Pikachu, Axew, Oshawott, and Meowth stranded together. They have to work together to get back to the twerps and Team Rocket, while their trainers have to deal with the double trouble of Beedrill and Ursaring.
This episode contains examples of the following tropes:
- Even Evil Has Standards: For once, Meowth doesn't go along with Jessie and James intervening, since he had just been saved by Pikachu, Axew, and Oshawott.
- Properly Paranoid: Ya know, it wasn't that long ago that Meowth fooled the twerps into thinking he was now on their side. While Pikachu was this, Oshawott and Axew were shockingly naive about it.
- Mood Whiplash: Oh, look, that Victreebel just tried to eat Meowth, just like that one always did to James way back when! How funny! Oh...he ended up poisoned...
- Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Meowth has to work with Pikachu, Axew, and Oshawott to get back to their trainers.
- What the Hell, Hero?: When the astray Pokémon get to a river, Oshawott immediately swims across like it was nothing. The others call him out for trying to leave them behind, so he swims back.
