Picking up from where the previous episode left off, Ash has challenged Skyla to a gym battle and to prove that her air battle technique is wrong, has shown her his choices in advance, now revealed to be Pikachu, Krokorok, and Tranquill. Skyla is resistant at first, making her prediction and insisting that she will win, but thanks to her grandfather and her fans, she relents and accepts Ash's request for a real battle. The next day, the match begins, but when things begin by going the way Skyla originally predicted, Ash will have to really tap into his ability to think outside the box in order to win and prove to her that real battles are the only way to go.

- Deus ex Machina: Ash's Tranquill evolving into Unfezant during the battle at her weakened state while at the same time heal back to full health.
- Scissors Cuts Rock: Like in the previous episode, Swanna again. Swanna blocked Pikachu's Thunderbolt easily with Aqua Ring, despite being 4x weak to Electic-types. Swanna then defeats Pikachu.
