• Guest-Star Party Member: Our heroes meet Cheryl, who temporarily joins them as they help her search for the Amber Castle.
• Recycled Premise: A character is trying to get her weak Pokémon to evolve in order to achieve a specific goal that can only be achieved via her Pokémon's evolution. Ash and co. throw the fight in order to not go so hard on the Pokémon and help it gain experience. Team Rocket gets a hold of the Pokémon and end up proving beneficial to it and causing it to evolve at the end of the episode. Sound familiar?
