N stands up to his foster father.

Ghetsis continues to use Kyurem to freeze all of Unova. But a fireball heralds the arrival of N, riding Reshiram. Refusing to allow Kyurem to suffer, N turns on his foster father. But when Ghetsis attempts to fuse Kyurem and Reshiram, things do not go according to plan.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Big Damn Heroes: Just as N is about to get blased by White Kyurem's Ice Burn, a bolt of lightning shoots from outside the cave to block the blast. Who fired it? Zekrom, who is commanded by Hilbert.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Hilbert arriving, riding Zekrom, to back up N.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: The events of this episode come from Pokemon White 2. Oddly enough, Hilbert from the original Black and White shows up at the end, when it should have been Nate or Rosa, one of the B2W2 player characters.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: A meta version—it's been five years, but at long last we have an official depiction of N reuniting with Unova's player character.
  • Heel–Face Turn: N turns on Ghetsis to save Unova, though he does this earlier since the Black 2 and White 2 continuities have N preforming this while being the leader of Old Team Plasma.
  • Puppet King: N had been raised by Team Plasma to be the king of the rebuilt Unova, with Ghetsis, his foster father, pulling the strings. But thankfully, in this continuity, N breaks the strings once and for all.
  • Redemption Rejection: As with Black 2 and White 2, N attempts to convince Ghetsis that Pokémon are not tools but instead friends with human beings. Ghetsis responds by shouting back at him claiming that no real person could talk to Pokémon.
  • Triumphant Reprise: A subtle case—the song playing at Hilbert's arrival and his and N's reunion? "Unwavering Emotions".
  • Villainous Breakdown: Ghetsis sure has been going through a lot, and it especially shows with his panting near the beginning of the episode, and when his son gets into an "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight with White Kyurem, he starts flipping out big time.
Ghetsis: Gah! You're nothing more than a tool! Both you, and Pokémon... You're nothing but tools to help me realize my dreams of domination!
N: It's hard to call you this, but... Father.
    Ghetsis: (gasps)
N: Pokémon and human beings take each other to greater heights. They're our partners.
Ghetsis: Shut your mouth! Don't talk like a person, you freak! No real person could talk to a Pokémon!
  • Wham Shot: Seeing Zekrom arrive to save N was expected. Seeing Hilbert commanding Zekrom was not.
