The group helps Gizmo, an old friend of Cadance's, to stop a Smooze rampaging through Splash-Splash-Splash Town.
- Friendly Rivalry: Cadance introduces Gizmo to the rest of the group as an old friend since her journeying days with Shining Armor, saying he and Shining were old rivals similar to Flash and Rainbow.
- The Ghost: Cadance makes a reference to Kurt, saying she got her Heavy Ball and Love Ball from "a man who dresses like a Slowpoke and has some serious back issues".
- Monster Is a Mommy: It turns out the whole reason the Smooze was rampaging through town was to find its missing child.
- Stone Wall: The Smooze brushes off everything thrown at it. It doesn't help that it is a dual Poison and Dark type, which only Ground types are super effective against, and unfortunately nobody has one on hand.
