Weslie, Paddi, and Sparky are intrigued by Mr. Slowy's demonstration of how a fire extinguisher is used and are appointed Goat Village's firemen. Wolffy notices they are firemen and lures them towards Wolf Castle to capture them by setting the castle on fire for them to put out.
"The Three Boys Who Saved the Fire" contains the following tropes:
- Burning with Anger: A hippo and a bull, who are both angry at each other, have flames emitting from them. This happens to be one of the fires the goats put out.
- By the Lights of Their Eyes: Jonie turns out the lights at Tibbie's house when the latter brings in a cake for the boys, who mistake a lit candle on the cake for a fire and accidentally get fire extinguisher foam all over Tibbie. Weslie, Paddi, and Sparky's eyes are visible along with the candle flame when the lights are out.
- Downer Ending: Of a higher magnitude than usual for Wolffy, who is trapped inside the burning Wolf Castle along with Wolnie on top of failing to catch the goats as usual.
- Firefighting Episode: Weslie, Paddi, and Sparky become firemen thanks to Mr. Slowy giving them the idea.
- Heroic Fire Rescue: The climax of the episode has Weslie, Paddi, and Sparky try to put out the fire at Wolf Castle, with Weslie rescuing Wolffy and Wolnie. Sparky and Paddi's fire extinguishers run out of foam, so they go back to refill them and take Weslie with them. Weslie tells Wolffy he'll be sure to rescue him... except the episode ends without him coming back, thus subverting the trope.
- Man on Fire: Wolffy accidentally lets his tail get stuck in a campfire he uses to cook a sweet potato for Wolnie, causing him to catch on fire. The goats put out the fire for him and are shocked when they realize it's Wolffy.
- New Job Episode: Weslie, Paddi, and Sparky become firemen in this episode.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Tibbie's eyes turn red when the boys accidentally get fire extinguisher foam all over her.
