To celebrate Phineas' birthday, Irving comes up with the idea of the rest of the gang putting together a Clip Show of all his greatest achievements. Candace sees this as the prime opportunity to bust him once and for all. Meanwhile, Doof decides to invent a "non-inator" to stop a biography of his brother from airing.
Tropes
- All for Nothing: Candace actually manages to avoid losing or breaking the disc with the evidence of Phineas and Ferb's activities, but after hearing Phineas' speech, she can't bring herself to reveal it and destroys the disc.
- Borrowed Catchphrase: When Phineas remarks on what a day it has been, Candace says, "Yep. And I know what I'm gonna do tomorrow."
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: The fact that the episode is a clip show is lampshaded multiple times. Doofenshmirtz, for example, admits his scheme has less effort put into it than usual, but he's not going to bother doing his best work for a clip show.
- Brick Joke: At the end, a clown asks if anyone ordered a circus, before leaving and saying, "I knew I shoulda gotten a downpayment on the elephants", which was one of the rare sentences said by Buford from one of the fake clips.
- Call-Back: When Perry exits his lair sadly, Monogram tells Carl that he has to talk to him about his exits next time. Isabella makes the same joke about Candace when she leaves her room.
- Clip Show: The second one, and constantly lampshaded by the characters. Although, keep your eye out for a few clips that were made exclusively for this episode.
- Continuity Nod:
- Phineas is seen wearing his "invisible helmet head" from "Phineas and Ferb Get Busted", which, as previously established, was a dream.
- On her way home, Candace passes by the road construction from "Summer Belongs to You!".
- Dead TV Remote Gag: After a lengthy battle between Doofenshmirtz and Perry with them using TV remote laser guns, Doofenshmirtz tries to shoot Perry for breaking one of the legs on his Non-Inator, but the battery in his remote is dead. Doof tries to go get some fresh batteries, but Perry ends up destroying the Non-Inator before he can do so.
- Destroy the Evidence: Candace ends up destroying the disc with the wrench when Phineas' Rousing Speech reduces her to tears, as she cannot bring herself to bust her brother on his birthday.
- Everybody Cries: Phineas' Rousing Speech causes nearly everyone in the crowd to tear up, including Candace, who cannot bring herself to bust her brother on his birthday and destroys the disk she has.
- Everyone Has Standards: Candace finally has the chance to show evidence that proves what her brothers are doing, but can't go through busting Phineas on his birthday. She doesn't even decide to keep the disc with the evidence for another day; she breaks it.
- If I Had a Nickel...: A Running Gag throughout the episode is characters saying this phrase, then a montage would appear accompanied by a counter adding up every nickel. Linda says this for every time Candace tried to bust her brothers, Doof says this for every time he trapped Perry, and Phineas said this for every time someone Phrase Catched him with the "Aren't you a little young" question. Turns out, they'd only have enough to buy a candy bar.
- At the end, Phineas says if he had a nickel for every time Candace did something nice to him, he wouldn't know what to do with that much money. When Candace hugs him, only one nickel appears on screen.
- Insistent Terminology: Dr. Doofenshmirtz decides to name his device the Video-Beam-Hijack-Non-Inator after noticing that most of his previous inventions all contained the suffix "Inator", believing this to be the reason why they have all failed.
- Instant Wristwatch: Perry looks at his watch while Doof rambles about why he called his latest invention a "non-inator".
- It Makes Sense in Context: Baljeet was given all the weird, out-of-context clips to edit. He's not happy about it.Baljeet: I need better clips.
- It's the Best Whatever, Ever!: Phineas' speech ends with him declaring, "Today was a great day, the best day ever!"
- Lampshade Hanging: "Oh, now, look what you made me do... 40 seconds ago, Perry the Platypus!"
- Manipulative Editing: Isabella is given some footage of Phineas to edit into a birthday tribute, but takes the opportunity instead to splice together clips of Phineas saying "We'll - be - together - forever, - Isabella" and "Isabella-will-you-marry-me?"Isabella: (sighs) The magic of digital editing.
- Noodle Incident: There are a few fake clips that were created just for this episode. Among them:
- Perry entering a dollhouse version of his lair.
- One of Candace's busting attempts in a parody of Pablo Picasso's Guernica.
- Perry getting trapped in a metallic shell shaped like himself.
- Doof's "Blow-itself-up-inator".
- Linda and Lawrence in a cave going "Kikikikiki."
- Doof getting struck by the Inside-Out-inator.
- Buford rowing a boat toward a lighthouse saying, "I knew I shoulda gotten a downpayment on the elephants."
- One of Phineas and Ferb's inventions being powered by thousands of chickens.
- Oblivious Guilt Slinging: Phineas gives a speech about how glad he is to be surrounded by loving friends and family, just as Candace is about to bust him. A guilt-ridden Candace cries that she can't bring herself to bust her brother on his birthday, and promptly destroys the disc full of evidence.
- Pet the Dog: Despite busting her bothers being her mission in life, Candace can't bring herself to bust Phineas on his birthday.
- Plot Hole: Some of the clips were from episodes which were All Just a Dream, forgotten, or shouldn't have been seen.
- A Rare Sentence: After Phineas says, "Super suit generated egg renderings do me make me peckish," Jeremy lampshades this trope and asks if Phineas knows any other examples. At first, Phineas does not remember any, but then he does, giving us this epic montage! (Most of these make sense in context.)Candace-in-Perry's-Body: Am I sweating milk?Adult!Candace: Gotta go, Stacy. Good luck with that llama legislation.
- Rhymes on a Dime: Ferb's clues for Phineas are written in rhyme.
- Rousing Speech: Phineas gives one to the party guests as he shows how awesome summer has been so far and that he wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.
- Shout-Out:
- At one point, Isabella shows Candace a clip of her and the girls doing a poetic recitation parodying Allen Ginsberg's Howl (1955).I saw the best girls of my troop, hungry, patchless, out of uniform...
- Hey, there, Ralphie Boy! The man watching the how-to video on how to install pipes is dressed like Ed Norton, who was a sewer worker on The Honeymooners.
- At one point, Isabella shows Candace a clip of her and the girls doing a poetic recitation parodying Allen Ginsberg's Howl (1955).
- Subverted Catchphrase:
- When Phineas notices Ferb is missing, he says, "Hey, where's Ferb?" and then Ferb is seen exiting the gate and wearing a fedora like Perry as Perry's theme plays in the background while the singers say, "Ferb!" instead of "Perry!"
- When Isabella sees Candace, she says, "Oh, hi, Candace, what are you doing here? In my house?"
- The Unreveal: We never see the video presentation at the party.
- Voice Clip Song: The Stinger is a version of the show's theme song, accompanied by various clips of Candace yelling "Mom!". This is lampshaded at the end.
- You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: Major Monogram calls Agent P "Perry" when discussing how his entrances have lacked flair as of late.
