Recap / Phineas And Ferb Fathers Day

Go To

For Father's Day, Phineas and Ferb build an antique replica of Grandpa Reg's old biplane so Lawrence can live his dream. Meanwhile, Doofenshmirtz tries to find the repossessed family lawn gnome.

Tropes:

  • Comedic Underwear Exposure: During the song "Fletcher Family Flying Circus", a man has his suit ripped off by the winds that Reginald's biplane picked up when it flew close to the ground, leaving the man in just his socks, shoes, and heart-printed boxer shorts.
  • Demoted to Extra: Candace only has two brief cameos at the beginning and end.
  • Halfway Plot Switch: Doof's evil scheme involving chewing gum is immediately thwarted before Doof complains about Father's Day.
  • Missed Him by That Much: Reg flies the biplane out of sight just before both Linda and Candace return.
  • Parental Substitute: Carl apparently sees Monogram as this, as he gave him a tie for Father's Day. Monogram appreciates the gift, but has to remind Carl he is not his father.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Downplayed. Doofenshmirtz tries to find the repossessed family lawn gnome, and when Perry finds it online via a specialized gnome-searching database, they travel to Drusselstein and buy it from a Pawn Shop. He takes it to his father's house, only to trip and drop the gnome, making it shatter. However, the moment Doofenshmirtz leaves, his father notices the serial number and rebuilds the gnome to place outside the house.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Vocal Evolution: Doof's narration of the lawn gnome story is taken word-for-word from the original script of "Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror", although Dan Povenmire re-recorded it for this episode. When comparing the original line reading to the one here, there is less emphasis on Doof's Eastern European accent.
