Recap / Phineas And Ferb Bullseye

Go To

Phineas and Ferb create giant-sized dartboards and darts, while Linda makes a junk sculpture for an auction and Candace mistakes it for one of the boys' projects. Meanwhile, L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. hosts its Pageant of Evil, and Lawrence ends up becoming a participant after driving to the wrong address for a speaking engagement.

Tropes:

  • 6 Is 9: The address for Lawrence's speaking engagement is 9019 Palindrome Rd., but after the paper with the address number falls on the floor of his car (courtesy of Phineas and Ferb's dart knocking a hand off a billboard due to them not retracting the launching arm), Lawrence accidentally flips it upside down and goes to 6106 Palindrome Rd., which is where the Pageant of Evil is being hosted.
  • Advertised Extra: The title seems to suggest that the main plotline involves Phineas and Ferb's dart game, but this is more of a background plot as the real focus is on the Pageant of Evil.
  • Cathartic Exhalation: Perry does this every time Lawrence appears to lose.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • During the Swimwear Competition, Doofenshmirtz skates in his underwear and accidentally falls into a toilet.
Doofenshmirtz: Wait! I thought this was the talent competition! (falls into toilet) It won't stop flushing!
    • When Evil Lawrence sees Phineas and Ferb, a brief montage of clips from several episodes (including "Ladies and Gentlemen, Meet Max Modem", "Dude, We're Getting the Band Back Together", "Oh There You Are Perry", and "The Lake Nose Monster") plays in his head as Lawrence snaps out of his evil trance.
    • After Candace discovers that Linda was the one who made the junk sculpture, Linda says, "Honestly, Candace, it's not like lip-syncing is my only talent".
  • Dark Horse Victory: After getting hit by Doof's Make Everything Evil-inator, Lawrence goes from dead last in the competition to winning in the final round by a landslide.
  • Fake Static: Linda uses it to end Candace's phone call when she tries to call her about the sculpture. Candace is not amused.
  • Insistent Terminology: Rodney steals one of Doof's inators, but calls it an -inizer.
  • I Am Not Weasel: Lawrence is confused about what happened, and assumes that he was just crowned "King of the Pharmacists".
  • Mythology Gag: When Lawrence shows off his swimsuit, inspired by Klimpaloon, the Magical Old-Timey Bathing Suit That Lives in the Himalayas, a ragtime version of "The Ballad of Klimpaloon", originally written for, but ultimately cut from, "Summer Belongs to You!", play.
  • The Napoleon: Dr. Diminutive insists "I don't have a Napoleon complex! Napoleon had a me complex! Don't cross me!"
  • Scary Flashlight Face: Done by Lawrence after he accidentally gets shot by the Make Everything Evil-Izer. note
  • Script Swap: "I'm Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz and I like unicorns and rainbo—Wait, who switched my—?"
    Rodney: Ha ha!
  • Shout-Out: The "Evil Tonight" song appears to be visually modeled on the theme from The Muppet Show.
  • Soundtrack Dissonance: The evil scientists singing "Evil Tonight!" all have evil smiles on their faces with the eyebrows pointed down, and yet the song is in a major key and it is also disco.
  • Special Guest: Tom Bergeron plays the Emcee.
  • Spit Take: Done by Perry when he sees that Lawrence accidentally stumbled into the Pageant of Evil.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Doof tells the robotic mother he is getting married again, which causes her to explode.
  • Take Our Word for It: The last event at the Pageant of Evil is where each contestant had to scare the others with their evil glare. We never get to see Lawrence's, but all characters who saw it were either horrified or impressed.
  • Title Theme Drop: An instrumental version of the theme song plays during Phineas and Ferb's first attempt to throw the dart.
  • Today, X. Tomorrow, the World!: "Today Danville, tomorrow the world!"
  • True Art Is Incomprehensible: Linda keeps adding more and more ridiculous things to her junk sculpture, such as feathers and meat products.
  • You Must Be This Tall to Ride: One of the rules for the Pageant is that contestants must be above a certain height to qualify for the contest; Dr. Diminutive, not being very tall at all, is disqualified.
Dr. Diminutive: Hey, you can't do that!
    Evil Scientists: YES, WE CAN!
    Dr. Diminutive: Why?
Evil Scientists: (singing) 'Cause we're evil!
