Go To

Episode 13 of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt.

  • 11th-Hour Superpower: Chuck gains one.
  • And Then John Was a Zombie: No Stocking, you are the demons.
  • Big "OMG!": Garterbelt does this twice, complete with a reverse "Oh my God!" when he gets resurrected.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Oten in Oten City directly translates into penis in a fairly obscure Cebuano language.
  • Cain and Abel: In the very end.
  • Censor Box: Used a few times during the Cold Turkeys Are Everywhere scene.

  • Cold Turkeys Are Everywhere: Panty lost her angelic status and regained her virginity as a side effect. Suddenly she notices lots of people making out in cars, then cats and dogs doing it, then a vortex of said animals and people having (censored) sex.
  • Defeat Equals Explosion: Garterbelt and Corset explode the same way when killed, with Garterbelt even un-exploding when he is brought back to life, complete with a reversed Death Cry Echo.
  • Deus ex Machina: Pretty much literally, where Corset appears to be defeated by the High Heel of God:
    Panty: Mom?
  • The Ending Changes Everything: Stocking turns out to have been a demon all along and cuts Panty to bits, and Corset spontaneously comes back to life and sends all the remaining characters on a journey to collect all her pieces.
  • Gainax Ending: Has one that tops the other Gainax endings.

  • Giant Foot of Stomping: How Corset is defeated.
  • Grand Finale: Of the series.
  • Gotta Catch 'Em All: If the ending is to be believed, the overarching plot of the second season will be gathering the 666 pieces of Panty.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Considering the looks on their faces at the end, possibly Scanty and Kneesocks, to fight against the now-evil Stocking and Corset.
  • Hollywood Acid: Hell's Monkey spews semen that melts the surrounding city.
  • Humiliation Conga: The beginning is one huge conga for Panty.
  • I Was Quite a Looker: Granny.
  • It Only Works Once: Corset's panic implies this to be the case with Brief's orgasm unlocking the Hellsgate, but it's probably not so if Corset expects Brief to open Oten City's gate next season.
  • Made of Bologna: The stinger has Panty cut into 666 pieces by Stocking's katana. Each piece seems to be made of pink bologna.

  • Mandatory Twist Ending: This is a Gainax series.
  • Medium Blending:
    • When Garterbelt and Corset go kaboom, the resulting explosion is an obvious live-action model being blown up, in the style of Kaiju/Tokusatsu.
    • The Wave-Motion Gun Panty and Stocking fire summons their mother, a gigantic live-action woman in white lacy lingerie.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Panty when she refused to catch Brief as he's falling after regaining her powers. He falls right into the Doomsday Machine, his "key" landing perfectly into the slot and activating it. Our heroes, ladies and gentlemen.
  • Prayer Is a Last Resort: During the final battle, Scanty and Kneesocks are truly terrified of the Hellsmonkey ghost. Scanty starts swearing up a storm, and Kneesocks quickly starts reciting a prayer to God and prattles off the names of Christian figures:
    "Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!"
  • Precision F-Strike: From the dub.
    Scanty: Holy motherfucking GODAMMIT SHIT!
  • Red Herring: The farm skit is intended to fool certain viewers into believing a larger Time Skip has occurred. Granny, who shows up with the same dress color and facial features as Panty's, is suggested to be Panty having grown old as a result of her mortality, while the real Panty is implied to be Panty Sr.'s relation or a child who happens to bear an uncanny semblance to Panty Sr. This illusion is promptly broken after Brief is shown not to have aged one bit and the whole scene is revealed to be a mere act planned out by Garterbelt to motivate Panty to rescue Brief.
  • Rewind Gag: At the end, Garterbelt unexplodes thanks to God.
  • Sequel Hook: The episode certainly has one, though a second season seems very unlikely.
  • The Stinger: The finale ends on this to the point that it's practically self-aware.
  • There Is No Kill like Overkill: The gang at the beginning riddles with bullets the farm of Panty's grandma, killing everyone inside but Panty, then sets it on fire, then destroys it with a missile launcher. Averted in the end, because they were just actors playing a part, everyone is alive and well.
  • This Is a Drill: Panty and Stocking somehow create a giant drill in order to defeat Corset. They accidentally fire it the wrong way and it pierces the heavens.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: More or less for the fans: Panty and Brief finally do the deed. In mid-air. About 5000 feet up. Give or take. Of course, Panty goes back to treating Brief the way she usually does (which actually leads to the immediate threat getting worse), but she does stop calling him "Geek Boy".
  • Title Drop: An odd visual example. The angels' "Mom" happens to be wearing panties, stockings, and a garterbelt.
  • Wham Episode: Stocking returns, the Big Bad is seemingly defeated, then Stocking wonders if the Heaven weapons can kill angels. She proceeds to chop Panty into 666 pieces, reveals she's actually a demon, and then leaves with the still alive Big Bad that popped out of Brief's penis.
  • Wham Line:
    • "I wonder what they do to angels?"
    • Alternatively, "I'm sorry. But surprise, I'm actually a demon."
  • What the Hell, Hero?: After being relatively passive to their behavior for the series, Brief really lets the girls have it after their nonchalant reaction to Corset killing Garterbelt. To their credit, neither of them give a crap.
