Sarah comes home to look for answers. With Cosima’s help, she digs into the origins of the clone experiment. The hunt takes her right into the belly of the beast, but getting out again could cost her more than she knows.

  • Adult Fear: Alison is sent to rehab and will lose custody of her children if she leaves before the program is finished.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Helena comes to Sarah's rescue at the end of the episode when she is tied up by Daniel.
    • Alternatively, Villainous Rescue as Sarah clearly doesn't know if Helena is going to kill her, too.
  • Blatant Lies: Henrik's attempts to comfort Helena by saying that he only wants the best for her and that his family just came over to say hello.
  • Blood-Splattered Wedding Dress: Helena wears her wedding dress when she kills Daniel.
  • Brutal Honesty: Alison's rehab mentor.
  • Car Fu: Cal smashes into Daniel's car with his truck, allowing him to free Sarah.
  • Classical Mythology: Referenced when Cosima connects Project LEDA to the tale of Leda and the Swan.

  • Cool Down Hug: Helena gives one of these to Sarah after the latter is briefly tortured by Daniel.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Cal has an RV that can't be traced back to him - and a police scanner hidden inside a nondescript transistor radio.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Off-screen, it takes Helena less than ten seconds to deal Daniel a lethal wound and he's not exactly a wilting flower.
  • Damned by Faint Praise: Felix to Alison when she asks about how her musical went.
Alison: "I don't remember the curtain going up. Was I terrible?"
Felix: (beat) "People got their money's worth."
  • Flashback: Helena has a flashback of her eggs being harvested by Henrik and Mark while heavily drugged.
  • Gilligan Cut: Felix says rehab will be good for Alison because she'll be able to retake her dignity. Cue Alison being forced to urinate for a drug test while her rehab mentor watches.

  • Grandma, What Massive Hotness You Have!: Mrs. S. gets her freak on with Carlton - who clearly Likes Older Women.
  • Guile Hero: Sarah sneaking in Rachel's hotel room with just a phone and her wits.
  • Happier Home Movie: When Sarah finds Rachel's hotel suite, she finds a tape of Rachel with her "parents" seemingly expressing love despite the present Rachel expressing little emotion.
  • Heroic BSoD: Sarah begins to have one when Daniel is about to kill her in Rachel's apartment. It goes Up to Eleven when she's saved — by Helena.
  • I Know Kung-Faux: When Sarah sneaks into Mrs. S.'s house in search of clues, Felix mistakes her for a burglar and loudly warns her "I'll have you know I'm versed in Krav Maga!"
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: Grace refers to Helena as "It", even though Henrik insists she's part of the family.
  • Medical Rape and Impregnate: The last shot of the previous episode featured Henrik carrying an unconscious Helena down a hallway after their "wedding." Helena later has a flashback to Henrik and Mark tying her down and harvesting her eggs.
    • Though Henrik and Mark later study a zygote under a microscope, so they may have extracted an egg from Helena rather than impregnating her with a zygote.
  • My Rule-Fu Is Stronger Than Yours: When Henrik accuses Art of trespassing on the Proletheans' property, Art points out he never crossed the property line... and that the Proletheans were carrying guns on public property without a license.
  • Not Quite Dead: Daniel survives the car accident only to be killed by Helena.
  • Oh, Crap!: Tied up in the shower, Sarah finds out that the person that saved her from Daniel is none other than Helena, who is still alive, and she approaches her holding a bloody knife. The look of horror on Sarah's face is priceless.
  • Old Flame: Mrs. S reunites with one.
  • The Reveal: Rachel's parents, Susan and Ethan Duncan, were part of Project LEDA, are the scientists in Mrs. S's photo, and are the scientists who contacted Amelia. They died in a lab explosion.
    • Daniel is Rachel's lover and monitor.
    • The Proletheans took at least one of Helena's eggs to make a baby.
  • Sassy Black Woman: Once again, Alison's rehab mentor.
  • Say My Name: Bonnie, when she discovers that Helena has escaped and knocked Grace unconscious.
    "HENRIIIIK!!!!"
  • Spiteful Spit: Sarah does this to Daniel after he ties her up in the shower.
    • Helena does this once again after killing Daniel.
  • Vorpal Pillow: Grace tries this on Helena. It doesn't work.
  • Wham Episode
  • Wicked Stepmother: Inverted. Grace is Helena's wicked stepdaughter. Grace even attempts to smother her with a pillow, leading Helena to (non-fatally) strangle her.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Daniel hits Sarah, ties her to the shower with zip ties, and tries to kill her.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: Alison wakes up in a strange room and believes she's been taken by the Dyad. She's actually in rehab.
